Serra High wins first CIF D IV Title in School History

Willauer-Friday, November 29, 2019-Devore Stadium-Southwestern College-Chula Vista, CA-For the first time ever in the history Serra High School when they opened their doors in 1976 finally achieved a goal that has never been achieved as they won their first CIF Division IV in school history.

QB Timmy Zebroski passed for 136 yards and rushed for 95 yards along with 3 touchdown runs of 15, 28 and 12 yards each. Serra teammate Brevin Lingao rushed for 129 yards scored 2 touchdown runs of 12 and 8 yards each.

Serra qb Timmy Zebroski on his performance in the teams 37-7 win over Santana: "It feels great to come with the win tonight our first title in our school history." "Once when we scored our 2 touchdowns to go up 12-7 we had momentum throughout the contest we knew that we had to keep focusing along with a mentality knowing that we had to do our responsibilities as we helped each other and focused hard that is how we won the game."


For the Sultans of Santana Brooks Moutaw scored on a 4 yard run and qb Nathan Temple threw for 129 yards.

In a CIF Division IV State Playoff contest the Consquistadors will travel to El Monte High School on Friday, December 6th.

Kiah Reid Keys Miracle El Camino To Division II CIF San Diego Section Football Title

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Devore Stadium-Southwestern College-Chula Vista, CA-11-29-19-The El Camino who were seeded 7th in the CIF are known for pulling big surprises, upsets and miracles in the 2019 San Diego CIF Football Tournament with wins over 2nd seed San Pasqual Eagles 42-21 in the quarter finals, 3rd seed Vista Panthers 35-21 in the semi final round but in the championship round that was held at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, the "Miracle" Camino Wildcats at 8-6 went against a high powered Bishop School from LaJolla, CA, trailed 59-36 as quarterback Kiah Reid rushing (10 carries for 65 yards scored on a 21 yarder passing 12 completions out of 18 attempts for 285 yards) pulled out his magic as scored 1 touchdown run for 19 yards along with 3 touchdown passes 2 to Jacob Gathright 2 receptions for 51 yards scored 1 touchdown reception for 19 yards to tie the game at 59-59 and the game winner for 32 yards to go up 67-59, 1 pass to Alex Fetko (6 receptions for 200 yards 2 touchdowns receptions of 26 and 38 yards, Zion Jackson 7 carries for 109 yards (1st touchdown on a 28 yarder) as he scored on a 7 yard run defeated the previously undefeated Knights of Bishop's School in a high scoring 75-59

"Our squad never believed it was a miracle they believe they could win during the season but we had some tough losses during the season at the very end of the contest, it prepared us on how to win contests, during the contests we lost 3 different games on the last play that were key Avocado League losses but those games set us up for the playoffs." said Coach Hobbs

Bishop's School

Tyler Buckner 18 carries for 350 yards scored 5 touchdowns rushing and passing 20 completions out of 47 attempts for 286 yards, Clarence Freeman 6 receptions for 114 yards 1 touchdown Chase Ladrido 6 receptions for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Bishop School suffers their first defeat after winning winning 12 in a row and finish their season at 12-1.

LOS ALAMITOS – During the CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) Division 12 semifinal football contest played between Orange Vista High School and Adelanto High School a physical altercation broke out on the field that eventually involved nearly every member of both teams.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes, the member schools of the CIF-SS enacted regulations to eliminate or at least minimize the risk of harm to our student-athletes during an athletic contest.

One such rule is CIF-SS Bylaw 2027 which states, “Any player who is ejected for any reason shall be disqualified from the remainder of the game and will be ineligible for the team’s next contest and may not attend.”

Furthermore, CIF-SS Bylaw 2027 states, “Any player who leaves the confines of the bench or team area during a fight that has broken out or may break out will be ineligible for the team’s next contest.“ This rule was adopted by our member schools to ensure that no student-athletes leave the bench or team area whenever a physical altercation takes place.

The Misconduct Report filed by the game officials clearly stated that, with the exception of 5-6 members of the Adelanto High School football team who remained on the sidelines during this incident, every other player from both schools was ejected from the contest per CIF-SS Bylaw 2027 and this contest was terminated by the game officials due to the fact that there were no longer enough players for either team available to continue.

Therefore, this semifinal game is declared a double forfeit with neither team advancing to the CIFSS Division 12 Championship Final this upcoming weekend.

El Monte High School is declared the CIF-SS 11-Man Football Division 12 Champion. The CIF-SS Office will have no further comment on this unfortunate incident.

A very boring bracket. Blowouts galore. I made a point in a previous post about declining attendance where one poster disagreed. The visitor's side in both games I watched were sparse for games of this magnitude. SJB vs Centennial and RC vs Sierra Canyon.

I am totally in shock how the jurupa hills team simply is out of control. Coaches and players seem to believe it is all about them with crazy celebrations and taunting of their opponents, endless penalties and disrespectful sportsmanship. This is the coaching and school’s that lets kids act like this not the kids fault. I was fortunate to see them lose in person tonight because they do not represent what is Fontana football. Before the game against elmonte the jurupa players went to the center of the field and taunted them and tried to fight and a coach with tattoos on his face seemed to encourage it. Kaiser is still top dog in Fontana and they always are a class act. My son played for them and won a CIF championship in 2012 and I still follow them today because they are Fontana football. Great coaching, hardworking players and none of the bs that happens at jurupa is tolerated. I am hoping Kaiser plays them next year in the new league to show them what it means to respect the game and have class.

In a Division IV semi final San Diego Section tournament game, the Torrey of LaJolla Country Day School Torreys behind EJ Kreutsman's 2 touchdown passes to Brandon Kim and 3 to Daniel Rosenberg as they were defeated by Serra High School 76-36.

LaJolla Country Day School ends their season at 9-4.

Oceanside defeats Madison 45-21 in Division I Semi Final Round

Willauer-Contributing Writer-In a semi final Division I contest that was held at Madison High School field the "miracle" Pirates of Oceanside have advanced to their second CIF Division Final under head football coach Dave Rodriguez on 2 Jakob Harris's touchdown passes of 57 and 49 yard pass to Rich Jaime and 1 touchdown pass of 10 yards to Kamron Beachum, Kavika Tua 2 touchdown runs of 97 yard run and 15 yards defeated the Warhawks of Madison High School by a 45-21 score. Their last appearance was in 2015 when they took on rival El Camino at Southwestern College.



Oceanside will take on the Lincoln Hornets in a Division I Final game next Saturday at 7:00 pm at Southwestern College.

It really has become a charade what San Clemente has caused. It's really hard for me to come down on them because what they did is what private schools get away with without penalty all the time. However the end result being what it is, Chaminade will waltz into the final to face Sierra Canyon. Essentially Rancho Verde and Sierra Canyon are essentially the teams being penalized. Of course Chaminade doesn't get to test itself either in the heat of battle.

I don't think it's fair that Chaminade can rest its' players and have a week and additional days to prepare for their finals appearance. They also got to watch Sierra Canyon in action against Rancho Cucamonga probably live in some instances.

Like someone else mentioned, since Rancho Verde was cheated against they should've went to the semis in place of San Clemente so that the deserving team gets to the finals with the same wear and tear. I'm actually a little surprised because the CIF always seems ready to reap the benefits of additional gate income.

Good thing I didn't mention Fontana's starting and backup QBs are out for the season as the only few who picked them in Marques' pick em may have changed their picks. I don't how the Steelers stayed within the spread in a 20-0 loss... probably the wind hampered Summit.

Fohi used their best athlete Joseph Burciaga who apparently took a crash course in being a QB during this short week. Tough kid. He goes both ways as a WR, RB and DB every game and is also the kick returner and punter. At that, two of Summit's 3 TDs were a result of 2 bad snaps in or next to the end zone and a horrible punt. I'm sure the strong wind played a role. The one punt effecting a minus yardage overall effort that resulted in Summit making a TD in a couple plays from inside the 10 or so.

I don't know if Fontana will ever be capable of a winning season even in Division 12. It's a study in futility year after year. They haven't had a winning season in 19 years.

It's happened before. St. Paul clobbered Pioneer HS 44-8 in 1974.

St. Paul had to forfeit for spying on Pioneer's practices.

Pioneer was awarded a 1-0 forfeit win, and advanced to the second round, losing to Newport Harbor 37-0.

Kaiser is shut out for only the 6th time in school history

Coach Kevin Rooney has officially retired as head coach of Notre Dame after 40 years. We all knew this day was coming but it doesn’t soften the blow of hearing the news. I had the privilege of playing for Coach Rooney and cant say enough about the positive influence he had on my life and those of everyone else he coached. He’s truly one of the best coaches and human beings around and he’ll be sorely missed at ND.

I would be curious how many players on the current Mater Dei roster were not there as freshmen. Those of us up north thinks it is BS the way MD flaunts the transfer rules. Why don't they just use the players who start at MD as freshmen. I think I know why; if they did that, they would never be able to beat DLS in the State Open game.

The suspense is killin' me. I can't imagine how the brackets will go. Those opening games were tight. Down to the wire. Lol.

Vista Panthers Advance to Semi Final Round with 35-14 win over Christian Patriots in a Division II CIF Quarter Final Playoff

"David Flores made a couple of good runs for us but Christian is an outstanding squad, last week in the first round, they defeated Otay Ranch last week 24-21, they are well coached and their kids worked hard tonight but we kept working and moved some of our players around as we are trying to improve as a team we made a few adjustments both on offense and defense but it's good to get the win." said Head Football Coach David Bottom

Lincoln - Lincoln High School Wide receiver Ke'shun Ford picked up 164 rushing yards and scored 2 touchdowns to help Lincoln Hornets to a 34-27 win over Torrey Pines Falcons on Friday night in a high school football game.

The Hornets also received key efforts from Wide receiver Patrick White who rushed 5 times for 76 yards and 1 touchdown and Running back Kenneth Stevenson who rushed 11 times for 78 yards.

Torrey Pines' Brayden Fowler-nicolosi threw for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns, Dorian Lewis picked up 49 rushing yards and Marco Notarainni had 55 receiving yards.
