LB Noah Mikhail (Bonita) visited Oregon over the weekend. Should USC be worried?

Four-star linebacker Noah Mikhail from Bonita High School in LaVerne (CA) visited Oregon again this past weekend. As most do, Mikhail really enjoyed his trip to Eugene and got a chance to glimpse the state at its finest weather wise and watch the Ducks practice at the same time.

The 6-3, 210-poind inside linebacker is going to make a lot of trips during the spring. Mikhail will be in the Southeast playing with California Power 7v7 and he will get a chance to see Alabama and other schools.

The Texas programs and other teams out West are all involved but this one still seems to have USC written all over it – the Ducks will continue to recruit him, but this one would be really a major long-shot.

Here's what Jordon Davison's dad said about RB coach Alford leaving Ohio State to go to Michigan

Per our Rivals' Michigan publisher:

Spoke with the father of 2025 five-star running back Jordon Davison this evening [Thursday 3/14], the family had built a particularly close bond with Tony Alford while he was with Ohio State. Naturally, I asked about what Alford's presence means for the Wolverines' chances moving forward.

Here are some quick notes

On Alford: "Him and Jordon have a great, very great, relationship. He played a big role in is recruitment and I respect coach Alford. He's a good coach."

On Alford's presence in Ann Arbor means for for the Wolverines: "It added a team for sure we will be coming to check out the school soon."

He added that a date had not been finalized but 'should be soon.'

As for U-M's run game, Mr. Davison mentioned that Jordon was a fan of Blake Corum and they both are planning to look into the running game more with Alford hired.

Exclusive football updates on Texas's chances with Jordon Davison, Marcus Harris, John Mills, and Dijon Lee Jr.

Per our Rivals Texas insiders:

Most of the focus for the UT staff is on the underclassmen in the 2025 and 2026 classes. We decided to check with some West Coast sources to get some updates on profiles.

* Five-star RB Jordon Davison, out of Mater Dei in Cali, continues to look like a very real option for Texas in the 2025 cycle. One source said it looks to be a Texas-Ohio State battle (I agree, FWIW), with Georgia and Oregon also in the race.

* Alabama was thought to be a player for Davison when Nick Saban was there but this source said Davison is looking for a certain style of offense and Kalen DeBoer’s offenses don’t really fit Davison’s style. “He’s more of a between the tackles type of runner. He can get to the outside, but he’s more of a banger. Texas makes sense there. He’s always fashioned himself after Ezekiel Elliott so Ohio State makes a lot of sense too.”

* Davison’s teammate, 2025 WR Marcus Harris, has been high on Texas for a while. A source this week said things are still up in the air for Harris, but listed Texas and Oregon as the top two. Tennessee and Ohio State were others that were mentioned.

* Offensive lineman John Mills attended UT’s junior day in January. I’m told Mills is “wide open right now” but has about eight schools that are in play. “I would say probably Michigan, Texas and maybe A&M now that they’re involved.”

* Potential five-star corner Dijon Lee Jr. has already visited Texas once, but it sounds like the Longhorns are behind with the Mission Viejo (CA) standout. “Now that Donte (Williams) moved to Georiga, I think Georgia is a serious competitor. USC will be in there. Texas might be in there, but I feel like if he’s going to leave California it would be to go to Georgia to be with Donte.”

Texas A&M is confident they'll land QB Huson Longstreet (Corona Centennial)

From our Texas A&M writers:

"Longstreet will be visiting A&M March 29, and I’m told A&M is the leader in this recruitment and the only team making it interesting is Auburn.

He last visited A&M in January and that visit blew him out of the water. He’s at the top of the quarterback board for A&M and it would be huge to get him to commit early and help recruit this class.

He has one of the best arms in the country and gets the ball out very very quickly. Offensive coordinator Collin Klein is on this recruitment very hard. I’ve gone ahead and put in a FutureCast for A&M."

RB Karson Cox is set to visit Oregon. This could get interesting...

Our Oregon writing staff sees some intriguing possibilities with the under-the-radar Cox:

"2025 Oak Hills (Heperia, CA) running back Karson Cox is set to make an unofficial visit to Eugene on April 7 to check out spring practices for Oregon. The 6-0, 190 pound three star had a solid junior season rushing for 1,349 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 10.5 yards per carry.

He also had 13 receptions for 176 yards and three more scores. Unlike some elite players at the high school level, Cox is also a part time starter at linebacker since and notched 23 tackles last season as well.

Cox has been to Oregon once before and wants to also work out some plans for an official visit in Eugene, but this is another name to watch. This is someone that has sort of flown under the radar but he could flourish in the Oregon offense."

San Diego CIF Division II Basketball Finals Boys and Girls

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-San Marcos High School-San Marcos, CA-Friday, February 23, 2024: For the first time in Francis Parker School at 20-9, the Lancers made school history as they won their first CIF San Diego Section title under former San Diego State standout and head coach Courtney Clements as they defeated the Knights of Victory Christian Academy at 22-6 Francis Parker

13 points each by Gigi Ong, Kaitlyn Raagas and Brieana Brown for the Lady Lancers of Francis Parker

Courtney Clements Francis Parker Head Girls Basketball Coach: "It feels good to get the win in my third year as head coach and I have developed these young ladies into good basketball players ,they are talented and play together as a team. When we led 19-15 there was a lot of energy along with nerves out on the court along with a lot of turnovers so we talked about taking care of the ball along with being patient and aggressive at the same time."

Gigi Ong on her performance on the court for Francis Parker: "I have confidence in my team as were ready for this game from the start, we have the lead they almost have a way of coming back but our defense was the main focus in the game today." " In the second half we picked up our shooting a lot along with being aggressive which helps keep the open shots the halftime talk helped us play better basketball It felt great as we registered our first CIF San Diego Section title."

Victory Christian performers. Mai'ana Morita led the Lady Knights with 19 points

Sportsmanship Awards at the conclusion of the game went to Maya Stinson of Victory Christian

On the boys side in the CIF Division II Boys SD Section Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2011 the Centurions of University City High School Centurions at 24-8 behind the 24 point performance of Dylan Griffin, 23 points by Ash Aka as he hit 4 trays in the game and Ben Gavani with 16 defeated the 24-8 Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista by a 72-57 score.

University City Head Coach Alex Golland: "I am just super happy for my players they worked hard and were amazing tonight." "I am super proud of how we performed When we led 29-25 we always have been a second half team all year with our athleticism, our defense did well on the court tonight, Rancho Buena Vista is an outstanding squad but our team wore them down and did well on shooting and defense

Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns advance to the Boys CIF Division II Final

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Thursday, February 22, 2024-Rancho Buena Vista High School-Vista, CA: For the first time since the 2018-19 season, the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 24-7 advanced to the championship round of the CIF Boys Division II San Diego Section Finals by a 62-59 victory over the 17-14 Bobcats of Sage Creek High School.

C J Aldrich led the Longhorns with 25 points as he hit 5 three pointers in the game and teammate Matthew Horn contributed with 13 and Trent Lolito contributed with 7 points.

Aaron Abrams Rancho Buena Vista Boys Head Basketball Coach: "A well coached team as Sage Creek is a battle tested team while playing in a tough conference, so we knew it was going to be a challenge and they (Sage Creek) defeated a very good Vista team and took us to the wire but our guys came through in the fourth quarter." "If you look at the numbers that we scored at a high pace but when were not scoring we tend to struggle sometimes, the other part of the game is rebounding, playing our defense along with communicating, those are the things we stressed to our guys those were the key things that carried us to the win "

"I felt that C J Aldrich came through for us and shot the ball well which is very key for us but what matters for us is that we put the ball in the hole that's what our guys do moving to the championship finals on Friday there are some things that we have to fix in practice " said Coach Abrams.

The Bobcats conclude their season at 17-13 as they were led by Elijah Stephens with 20 points and teammate Elias Samady contributed with 16 points.

Footnote: This is Rancho Buena Vista's 3rd trip to the CIF Section San Diego Section Final last time was in 2017-18 where they were defeated by Carlsbad at the University of California at San Diego. The other year was in 1997-98 when they won their last CIF Title.

Mater Dei lands a 5-star WR transfer, a Ohio State commit; will it help the Buckeyes land Jordon Davison?

From our Rivals' Ohio State writers:

"Ohio State has tried for years to land a commitment from Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) High School and is trying its best to land Jordan Davison, the country's No. 1-ranked running back in the Class of 2025, right now.

Perhaps it'll be easier to win those battles when the Buckeyes take a commitment to Mater Dei?

We'll see if that works as Chris Henry Jr., a five-star 2026 wide receiver who played the last two seasons in Cincinnati, has announced that he'll be transferring to California and playing for the Monarchs moving forward.

Henry left Withrow High School last month and there was widespread speculation about his potential landing spot but now he'll get a chance to develop in one of the nation's elite programs surrounded by elite recruits.

Davison is set to visit Ohio State at the end of March on a four-day visit to Columbus. When he gets back he'll have one of the country's best receiver prospects in his ear to talk all about the Buckeyes with.

That can't be a bad thing for Ohio State's Mater Dei endeavors.

Here are Oregon's chances for Dijon Lee Jr., Jadyn Hudson, and Chuck McDonald III

From our Oregon sources:

Dijon Lee Jr.:
The Read: The elite cornerback from Mission Viejo (CA) High School was long thought to be a heavy USC lean – and then Dante Williams went to Georgia adding the Bulldogs to the list of the teams heavily recruiting him.

The Inside: I am not going to lie – this will be a very difficult pull for Oregon. Literally every program in the nation wants to add him to their team and the Ducks are one of the many. Lee has exceptional length and the ability to mirror even the best receivers in the nation. He shows great explosiveness and agility on the field and has shown his explosiveness in track with very good marks of 20-foot-10 in the long jump and 44-foot-6 in the triple jump as a sophomore in high school.

This is a moment where we see just how good Chris Hampton (and graduate assistant Rashad Wadood) are on the recruiting trail. Lee has commented in the past that the Ducks were still on his list because of his relationship with former corners coach Demetrice Martin. Lee has been to Oregon in the past and getting him back on campus is a priority.

USC is going to continue to be a player in his recruitment and the Bulldogs probably took a leap over Oregon with the addition of Williams – so there is a lot to overcome here. But the Ducks have done a lot of good work on this side of the ball over the last two years so there is a chance. A long shot for sure, but the Ducks are putting in a lot of work with Lee.

Jadyn Hudson:
The Read: Hudson is an elite safety who recently named a top five of Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Washington, and Oregon.

The Inside: I mentioned Friday that I really like where Oregon stands with Hudson. He loves the stability being projected by Dan Lanning and the Oregon staff and has a great relationship with the defensive staff. He loves the energy and atmosphere he gets from the staff as well. He included Washington in his top five and the feeling here is that the Huskies have some work to do. The new staff were not really that heavy into his recruiting at their former location, so he does not know them very well. This could get interesting if the former Husky staff now at Alabama go all in for Hudson.

USC hiring Anthony Lynn could give them a boost from where they were and he likes the plan that they have said they want to use for him (similar to how they use Calen Bullock), but this one feels a little bit like Oregon has done all of the right things which is why there is a feeling right now that Oregon is in the best spot. Ohio State is there and will be a threat and you never know with USC. The Ducks are doing fantastic work in Northern California right now and this might be a big get for the staff.

Chuck McDonald III:
The Read: This is another Southern California recruit that has been earmarked to USC for a while. But the Ducks are on his radar and the elite corner has some reciprocal interest.

The Inside: McDonald has never been to Oregon before and that is priority one for the staff. He has built a strong relationship with Wadood and is looking to make a trip up during spring practice with a visit scheduled for April 19th. He will be crisscrossing the nation with trips to LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia, and Stanford ahead of his trip to Eugene.

While he may not be in a rush to make a decision, getting him to Eugene is a massive priority for the Ducks. He is one of the best defensive backs on the West Coast for a reason and the Ducks would love to add him.

He should see a familiar face when he arrives on campus as Aydin Breland begins his first Spring Camp as a Duck – and that level of familiarity will be important; but probably not as important as the relationships between the defensive backs and their coaches.

Former Sierra Canyon center Christian Koloko inducted into Arizona Ring of Honor

From the Rivals Arizona team site:

"Former Arizona center Christian Koloko was inducted into the Wildcats' Ring of Honor at halftime of the UA-ASU game.

"It means a lot to be inducted in the Ring of Honor," Koloko said. "... I'm just blessed to be here, and I'm happy for sure.”

Koloko played for UA from 2019-22, where he averaged 7.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per contest. In his final season in Tucson, the Cameroon native averaged 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game, earning him Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Koloko said that when he first signed with Arizona, he did not expect to be inducted to the Ring of Honor, but it was in the back of his head that he could accomplish that goal.

Drafted to the Toronto Raptors with the 33rd overall pick, Koloko, in his first season with the Raptors, averaged 3.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and one block.

In mid-January, it was reported by Stadiums' Shams Charania that Koloko had been referred to the NBA's fitness-to-play panel due to a career-threatening blood clot issue.

When asked about how he was feeling Saturday, Koloko said that he was feeling "good" and he is not sure when he will be able to play again but is optimistic.

Koloko said that this past year has been the toughest moment of his life both mentally and physically but that he is built for that and that it will help him come back stronger.

After being waived by Toronto, Koloko is now a free agent in the NBA and is currently living in Los Angeles where he is seeing doctors. He said that whenever he gets cleared, he's gonna find a new team and a new home.

"We love Christian," Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd said. "Christian is an incredible person and he's really an inspiration to me just how much a player can improve in such a short time. I know he's gone through some tough health stuff, hopefully he's getting that behind him. I have no doubt in mind if he can figure out that health stuff that he can be a successful player in the NBA.”

Reading the latest tea leaves on safety Jadyn Hudson (Pittsburg) and LB Noah Mikhail (Bonita)

From our Oregon staff:

"Don’t look now, but it looks like Oregon might be in position to get another commit from Northern California with Jadyn Hudson leaning toward Oregon right now.

He spoke to Rivals a couple of weeks ago and praised Oregon head coach Dan Lanning for his dedication and loyalty to Oregon. Getting Matthew Johnson from the same town (Pittsburg, CA) is not really something that is going to change this recruitment either way.

The Ducks have made the No. 55 overall player in the nation and No. 7 safety a massive priority and have done fantastic work with his recruitment. Of course, leaning and committing are two different things. I like where the Ducks stand right now and I know that they are not going to give up no matter what – Hudson is very high on the list at a position of need.

- Four-star linebacker Noah Mikhail from Bonita High School in LaVerne (CA) is set to visit Oregon again in mid-March. The 6-3, 210-poind inside linebacker is going to make a lot of trips during the spring.

While he has loved his prior visits to Oregon, this one seems to have USC written all over it – the Ducks will continue to recruit him, but this one would be really a major long-shot.
