Texas A&M is not as confident anymore of landing the commitment of QB Husan Longstreet (Corona Centennial)

From our Rivals Texas A&M staff:

The latest info I’ve gotten is that A&M feels confident that they will land Husan. His relationship is very tight with the A&M staff and he loves Coach Elko and Coach Klein.

But, he just took a visit to Auburn this past weekend which went very very well from what I’m told. I’d slightly lean A&M here for the QB, but slightly. Will continue to update.

Mission Vista 2 run rally in home 6th defeats Escondido High School 3-1

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-4-4-24 Mission Vista High School-Oceanside, CA: The Lobos of Mission Hills came back from a 1-1 tie as they scored 2 runs in the home 6th as they defeated the Cougars of Escondido by a 3-1 score.

The Lobos scored their first run in the bottom of the third as Hunter Gemmell led off with a single and scored the first run on Q Mangohig rbi single.

Escondido tied the game at 1-1 as Michael Gonzales led off with a single and scored the tie run on an rbi triple by Jeremy Oakley,

In the home 6th the Lobos of Mission Vista came back as Rowan Cooke led off with a single and scored on a Bodie Wagner rbi singles to take a 2-1 lead. Kain Burnside scored the third run on a wild pitch to make the final score 3-1

Bill Conley Mission Vista Lobos Head Baseball Coach: "We always attack the best we can as our first 2 runners reached base which was huge we had a guy that needed a bunt and delivered." "I feel the biggest thing for us is just that these guys believe in themselves along with in each other." "I just want to put them in the best spots I can for them to be successful but today we pulled the win for our ballclub. "

"Bodie Wagner is efficient and what's great about him is how he manages the game well, keeping his pitch count down, works efficiently and doesn't get himself into much trouble and did an outstanding job along with my other reliever in William Voights struggled a bit at the end and did the job for us." "Right now were doing the right thing whether we play streaks or not we are believing in each other in the team and the product that does the job which leads to better results." "Our next opponent is El Camino they have been playing outstanding baseball this year said." coach Conley.

The Lobos of Mission Vista improve their record to 9-6 and ride a 3 game winning streak while Escondido 6-9 ride a 3 game losing streak

One Big Ten team is very confident that it'll land the commitment of Servite QB Leo Hannan

Per Rivals writer Dylan Callaghan-Croley:

At this point in time, we believe [Michigan State] is the overwhelming favorite to land Anaheim, California signal-caller Leo Hannan. We placed a FutureCast in for the three-star prospect on March 24, and at this point, he's the odds on favorite to be the first commitment in Michigan State's class.

As of right now he only has one official visit scheduled, that being to Michigan State.

It's tough to sell a QB on coming in behind Dylan Raiola and Daniel Kaelin but Nebraska is in the mix for two CA 2025 QBs

From our Rivals Nebraska staff writers:

Orange Lutheran four-star quarterback TJ Lateef has emerged as the "top" target for Nebraska and he's set to make an official visit for the spring game. A source indicates the Huskers are well-positioned to secure his commitment sooner rather than later.

However, there are a few programs with QBs already committed that have Lateef as a contingency option. Colorado had Lateef on campus this week and the Buffaloes can offer something Nebraska can't: playing time, with Shedeur Sanders off to the NFL after the 2024 season.

Ultimately, Lateef's official visit could cement Nebraska as his destination, but this recruitment isn't necessarily open and shut.

Nebraska has also emerged as a top school for Warren four-star quarterback Madden Iamaleava, the younger brother of Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava. Alabama and UCLA are two other programs in the mix.

The new UCLA staff in particular is making a big push to keep him on the West Coast. He's in the process of scheduling visits this spring and Nebraska's expected to get at least one.

Iamaleava's looking to wait till the summer to make a decision, while Lateef's timeline is a little more imminent. This could come down to who secures the spot first.

Intel: Initial returns on five-star RB Jordon Davison’s visit to Michigan

From a Michigan insider:
Spoke to some folks in the immediate aftermath of five-star RB Jordon Davison’s visit to Michigan this week.

Some VERY positive reactions coming out of the visit. The vibes were high and Tony Alford is going to give Michigan a shot here.

OSU, Texas and others are going to throw everything they’ve got at him but Michigan is certainly going to be in the mix.

Notre Dame is hoping to increase its chances with CB Chuck McDonald III

Per our Rivals Notre Dame writers after last week's visit:

Landing Chuck McDonald III (Mater Dei) was always going to be a longshot for Notre Dame. But getting him on campus makes it seems just slightly more realistic. And McDonald has expressed a desire to make a return visit as well.

The Irish have a chance, even though it’s still a slim one. Notre Dame will continue to try to make up ground with the elite cornerback.

Oregon has its sights on two top California 2026 quarterbacks

From our Rivals Oregon staff writers:

Newbury Park five-star QB Brady Smigiel is rated as the No.1 pro style QB and No. 4 overall player in the nation and has a lot of connections at different schools.

Nonetheless, he really likes the Oregon program having said that “Coach (Will) Stein is one of the best offensive minds in the country. He has every chance to be a head coach someday just with what he’s done with Bo Nix and all the quarterbacks there. It’s a hot spot for quarterbacks right now.”

It is going to be a long haul, but the Ducks are in a solid spot here and just need to continue having success with the offense and making him a massive priority.

- That’s not the only five-star quarterback the Ducks are working really hard for as Folson High School standout Ryder Lyons is also very high on Oregon. “(Oregon offensive coordinator Will) Stein is one of my favorite coaches and coach (Dan) Lanning. I talk to them frequently.”

The No. 1 dual threat QB and No. 6 overall player in the nation for the class of 2026 might be a more difficult pull for Oregon given his brother Walker signed with USC in the 2023 class and is due to come back from his religious mission soon.

That could make the Trojans a tough team to beat – but a lot could change between now and the time the younger brother signs with a school, so being in on his recruitment early could be a major factor down the road.

Rancho Buena Vista alum Bernie Truax finished in 5th place for Penn State at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Graduate Bernie Truax, the No. 6 seed at 184, battled No. 4 Trey Munoz of Oregon State in the consolation semifinals. Truax and Munoz worked the middle of the mat in Neutral to start the bout. Munoz moved behind Truax for a takedown :30 into the bout and then caught the Lion in a throw. He took him to the mat and finished off the pin at 2:29. The loss moved Truax to the fifth place bout.

He met No. 2 Isaiah Salazar of Minnesota for fifth place. The duo battled in neutral through the 2:00 mark. Truax worked his way in on a shot and took a 3-0 lead with a takedown at the 1:46 mark. He forced Salazar into a first stall warning while working his time edge up over 1:00. He controlled the action to finish on top and led 3-0 with 1:46 in riding time after one period. Truax chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 4-0 lead. He countered a slight Salazar shot for a second takedown and a 7-0 lead with 1:10 left in the stanza. He picked up a stall point as his time moved up over 2:00. He finished the period on top again and led 8-0 with 2:48 in time. Salazar chose neutral to start the final period. With riding time clinched, Truax went to work in the center of the mat and connected on a third takedown to up his lead to 11-0. Truax once again dominated the Gopher from the top position. He ended the period on top and, with over 3:00 in riding time, capped off a stellar collegiate career with a 12-0 major over Salazar. Truax went 5-2 over the weekend and became a four-time All-American with a fifth place finish. He ended his final season with a 19-6 record and finished with an 86-27 mark.

Oregon is pushing hard for another SoCal wide receiver visiting this weekend.

Per our Oregon Rivals staff:

I know Phillip Bell is slated to visit on April 4, but I think Oregon has some work to do with Bell. Originally from Sacramento, Bell has been in Southern California for a few years and the Trojans have been recruiting him longer than anyone.

Along with Ohio State, it would seem like a top two has emerged as those are the two teams he has been talking about the most. Bell’s mom is going to have a huge say in where he goes, so the visit in April could help move Oregon up the list for the four-star wide receiver from Missions Viejo.

WR Chris Henry (Mater Dei) may be committed to Ohio State but Oregon is pushing hard.

Per our Oregon Rivals staff:

2026 wide receiver Chris Henry – who transferred high schools this off season from Withrow High School in Cincinnati to Mater Dei – will be making a visit to Oregon next month to check out the program up close for the first time. The son of former Bengals player Chris Henry Sr., the younger Henry is committed to Ohio State but still wants to check out other programs ahead of the 2026 signing dates.

The 6-5, 190-pound wide receiver is the No. 1 wide receiver for the 2026 class and No. 3 overall player in the nation. I would not count Oregon out here as I think the move is likely going to at least get him a lot more exposure to the program through other players at Mater Dei as well as the opportunity to get to Eugene more often than if he were still living in Ohio. There is a long way to go here, but Oregon is going to really push hard on this one.
