Here's a report from out Rivals Minnesota staff:

Gophers visited California quarterbacks prior to the dead period​

Before the beginning of the dead period, head coach P.J. Fleck and co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Greg Harbaugh Jr. made sure to drop by some of their top targets. One of those targets is quarterback Jackson Kollock, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound pro-style quarterback out of Laguna Beach in California. The Gophers offered Kollock last May and have him among their top quarterback targets in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

They also took the trip over to Servite High School in Anaheim to visit three-star quarterback Leo Hannan. The 6-foot-4 quarterback has offers from Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Washington among others. Like Kollock, Hannan is among the Gophers' top targets in the 2025 recruiting cycle at quarterback.

While we haven't been able to confirm, it would seem likely that Fleck and Harbaugh also stopped by Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, the home of another 2025 offeree, Steele Pizzella who picked up his offer from the Gophers late last month.

" I don’t think it is a secret that I have thought Oregon was the team to beat for Nasir Wyatt since sometime during the season. He has been to Oregon a lot and is close with some current Oregon players – including Aydin Breland – from Southern California.

There are some fans of other teams who are probably going to use the same old excuses – but Wyatt looks like one of those impact defenders that you see on elite defenses. He is going to be really good at the next level and would be an exceptional addition to any team in the country."

On Friday, February 23, California Baptist University in Riverside will play host to a pair of Open Division title tilts with the girl’s game tipping off at 6:00 pm and the boys following at 8:00 pm.

These games will be televised live on Bally Sports SoCal and streamed on The NFHS Network.

Four championship finals will be contested at Azusa Pacific University that same day (2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm).
All divisions at APU are to be determined. All games will be streamed live on The NFHSNetwork.

Saturday, February 24 kicks off with six games at The Toyota Arena in Ontario. Game times are set for 10:00am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm.

Although Jordon visited Texas A&M over the weekend (we'll have a front page report), he had an important trip to Texas earlier fot their Junior Day.

Of all the talent that was in Austin for UT’s junior day earlier this month, 2025 running back Jordon Davison may have been the biggest name. A five-star prospect who is ranked No. 13 nationally, Davison is the type of prospect that can headline a recruiting class, and he’s been a regular visitor to the UT campus.

In fact, with Davison having made multiple stops in Austin over the course of his recruitment, the junior day visit wasn’t necessarily about showing him something he hadn’t seen previously. The trip was more about Davison continuing to build relationships with the UT staff.

“I’ve been out there so many times so it was just going there and getting around the coaches again,” Davison said.

Davison has actually been to the Texas campus so many times that he’s lost count of the exact number of trips. He just knows he likes what he sees every time he shows up.

“The direction the program is trending and the development coach (Tashard) Choice has with his players,” Davison said when asked what keeps him coming back to Texas. “(Choice) is very consistent. He always does his best to improve my game and it’s small things he does.”

Choice has done a phenomenal job with the Mater Dei product, but as a national recruit, Davison said there are a handful of coaches from around the country he’s bonded with.

“Coach Tony Alford (Ohio State), coach Locklyn at Oregon, coach Choice (Texas) is one of those guys, and I’m still building a relationship with Trooper (Texas A&M),” Davison said. “Me and coach McGee (Georgia) have a great relationship too.”

The 5-11, 203-pound Davison visited Texas A&M last weekend and he’s scheduled to be at Oregon this coming weekend. His plan is to take some official visits in the spring and summer before committing before his senior season begins. Davison hasn’t officially listed any schools as favorites, but the belief is that Texas and Ohio State are setting the pace for the five-star runner.

Madden Iamaleava, the younger brother of former five-star and No. 1-ranked QB Nico Iamaleava who will be Tennessee’s QB1 in the fall, is not just a candidate for best name among recruits in his class. He’s also a candidate to become the No. 1-ranked dual-threat QB in the cycle.

The four-star is ranked No. 3 at that spot right now and No. 147 overall nationally. Madden (190 pounds and an unverified 6-foot-3) doesn’t have the same physical makeup right now that the 6-foot-6, 205-pound Nico had at the high school level. So I imagine he won’t find himself with the same rankings as Nico unless he hits a bit of a growth spurt.

But the younger Iamaleava threw for 3,626 yards with 43 touchdowns and four interceptions last year, a monster junior season that has shot him up plenty of boards as the Californian’s recruitment has gone from local to national.

He already had a dozen offers heading into this offseason and has now added seven more highlighted by Colorado, Michigan State, Oregon State and, of course, Nebraska. Those are in addition to offers from Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Washington and, to boot, Tennessee.

Similar to how Husker fans will be hoping that 2026 up-and-coming future star Dayton Raiola will follow Dylan to Nebraska, Vols fans will be hoping that Madden follows in his older brother’s footsteps to Knoxville.

Nebraska has thrown its hat in the ring, and we’ll see how it takes off.

Breaking news from weekend visits at Oregon's Junior Day:

"It is still really early so not going to be a ton of feedback from the weekend visitors. But just a rundown of some key visitors.

Matthew Johnson did not get a lot of headlines heading into the junior day in Eugene, but the De La Salle prospect had a fantastic visit – and connected with De La Salle alum Tosh Lupoi in a big way.

Oregon is the premier west coast defense and the 2025 edge prospect might be the next commit for Oregon..."

Sierra Canyon OT Ashdon Wnetrzak traveled to Oklahoma for a visit but hasn't received an offer yet. Here's our Rivals Oklahoma writers take on the visit and what's in the future:

As we expected, he didn’t wind up with an offer, but Ashdon Wnetrzak had high marks for Oklahoma after his first visit to Norman.

“Man, that trip was amazing,” he told me. “The staff at Oklahoma really took the time to show my family and I everything about their program, from football, academics to SOUL. And it really spoke to me, all the support they have for their athletes.

"One thing I’m learning on this recruiting journey is that it’s more than being a great football player; it’s about building relationships with the coaches and I loved the connection I had with Coach B and Coach Woods.

"We spent an entire day with them. It was great. Best [visit] I’ve had so far.”

With Ryan Fodje’s commitment, Wnetrzak is probably a name to put on the shelf for a few months. The Sooners have Fodje and Owen Hollenbeck committed, and they’d ideally like to round out their class with Lamont Rogers and Michael Fasusi.

If either Rogers or Fasusi starts to trend elsewhere, Wnetrzak is somebody that Oklahoma will likely circle back around on. And even if the Sooners are still in good shape with Fasusi and Rogers by the time summer rolls around, I think Wnetrzak could be a guy Oklahoma brings to camp to see firsthand how he stacks up against elite defensive linemen.

That would enable the Sooners to confidently move forward with an offer to Wnetrzak if they eventually needed to do so.

When Oregon head coach Dan Lanning stopped to visit Mater Dei linebacker Nasir Wyatt, he was able to spend time with the family and convince the elite playmaker to switch up his plans for this weekend to visit Oregon. While the Ducks have long been in the picture – and there are some who feel the Ducks have an early lead – getting a visit this weekend is very important.

Making the trek with Wyatt will be his high school teammate Jordon Davison. Oregon will look to take at least one running back in this cycle and Davison is one of those players at the top of the list for Oregon – who will seem to have no shortage of running back options in this cycle. I think Oregon is in a much better position for Davison than Nate Frazier, but he is still going to be at the top of a lot of teams wishes and a visit this weekend is just another critical step for Oregon.

Four-star forward Nikolas Khamenia lists Illinois among the schools he's hearing from the most, along with Gonzaga, USC, Kansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Cal, Virginia and UCLA.

Khamenia was one of the top risers in the latest updated rankings from Rivals.com, shooting up 31 spots to No. 47.

A 6-foot-8 combo-forward, Khamenia is an inside-outside player who shoots with range and is tenacious around the hoop. He operates in the high post and can attack off of the dribble. Averaging over 20 points per game, Khamenia has led Harvard Westlake to a 25-3 record and a No. 12 nationally ranking by MaxPreps.

So far, Khamenia has taken an official visit to Gonzaga. Illinois is working on setting up a campus visit, and that could happen some time this spring. AC Geoff Alexander heads up the recruitment for the Illini.

Oak Hills offensive line coach Nick Monica told me this morning that Tim Drevno and UCLA were checking in Wednesday about 2024 offensive tackle Paki Finau, who initially graduated in December and signed with Washington before entering the transfer portal Tuesday because of the coaching change.

Another player the Bruins are targeting is 2025 three-star RB Karson Cox. Oak Hills assistant O-line coach Rich Mitsuda told me DeShaun Foster stopped by during the season to check in on Cox. “Now that USC offered Karson, maybe DeShaun will come back,” he said.
