New message boards

Rivals has started changing over to new message boards on some of the national boards and soon Californiapreps will be getting a makeover too.

Here's some info I copied and pasted:

Here are some of the new Features & Benefits for
the new
Rivals.com Message Boards:

1. They are a responsive design[/B]; meaning, they were designed for desktop, tablets and
mobile - all in one design and all at the same URL. No need to go to a different
address to get the proper version for your device

2. They have a modern, secure and actively maintained
framework built for speed & stability

3. There will be no[/B] limit
on Thread History, so you can reference old topics or replies at any
time

4. There is Private Messaging,
Social Profiles and Rich(er) Content - embeddable video, embeddable Tweets,
etc

5. You now can set up alerts[/B] and follow
users [/B]so you don't miss replies to topics you're participating in or miss
great posts from your favorite users. In yourNews
Feed[/B] you'll be able to see all of the topics, users, and content that you
wish to follow.

6. Dynamic
quoting system [/B]so what you select within a thread can be quoted without
copying and pasting any code. You select what you want to quote and click Reply
over that selection, and it will be put automatically in your reply. You can
quote multiple posts[/B] and automatic
quoting[/B] is set up so that you can always follow the conversation with a user
forgetting to quote.

7. Improved navigation[/B] and search[/B]: quickly jump to the first unread post in a
thread or to the top and bottom of each thread. Advanced search features include
by keyword, date or thread title.

West Valley Top 10

Mission Viejo dropped down a division and finally won a Championship. We think they win it all again.
There are quite a few teams this year with question marks? Those teams lost a lot of talented players.
Can the Sunset rebound from a disappointing showing in last years playoffs?
Does the Foothill League truly belong in this division?
The South Coast league is loaded with talent, although the Baseline is the toughest public school league from top to bottom.

1. Mission Viejo (1-0) MV has reloaded with transfer from all across South County. The Diablos should be poised for a repeat. They've already played and won a game. They destroyed a team from Hawaii 63-7. Next: Liberty - Bakersfield - revenge game ?

2. Vista Murietta (0-0) Vista has the talent to challenge MV once again for a title, but VM's biggest challenge will likely come against league opponent Great Oak. Next: Sept 4 Ballard (Washington)

3. Los Al (0-0) After rolling through the sunset League, Los Al was a quick exit from the playoffs losing to El Toro in the opening round. The Griffins return 11 starts with 7 on offense. They should score a ton of points. Next: Sept 3 Paramount.

4. Great Oak (0-0) The 'Pack returns 8 players from a solid defense as well as RB Demetric Felton. This just might be the year the SWL gets a new sheriff. Next: Tough matchup with Romoland Heritage.

5. Upland (0-0) Upland lost like everybody, but does return one of the best players in the SS in Nathan Tillford. Upland always scores points, but does it have enough on defense? Were hearing that the Scotts will have a few players going both ways. First two games wont be that bad for Upland, but come week 2, its Tesoro. Next: Knight (Palmdale0

6. Tesoro (0-0) Like Upland lost a lot of guys. Has one returning starter on defense, but does return the core on offense, including QB Devon Modster. Tesoros first 3 games are pretty tough. They open with HB Edison, Mater Dei, then Upland.

7. Rancho Cucamonga (0-0) Like most everyone else RC has questions that need a quick answer too. They lost the WR corps, LB's, and 3 guys from the defensive front. RC does return its, QB Angel Matute, who threw for over 2800 yards as a junior. It also returns its top rb and boosts 3 starters, who are underclassmen, who have D1 offers, in the secondary. Next: Trabucco Hills - defending D4 Champs.

8. Edison (0-0 The always tough, well coached Chargers look to rebound from an early playoff exit from a year ago. Edison opens on the road at Tesoro.

9. Chino Hills (0-0) Chino Hills opened some eyes last year with their success in the Baseline. They also had wins over Hart and Bishop Amat. Doubt the Huskies sneak up anyone this year. They do have as good of a chance in the Baseline as anyone else. Next: City rival Ayala

10. El Toro (0-0) ET too, has question marks about this year steam. Their all everything QB graduated. They do return 8 starters. Their season opener is a tough one too. La Habra

others:
Etiwanda - new coach loaded with talent - opens with Norco
Los Osos - we think LO contends for Baseline title. . opens with Carter - Carter has a bunch of D1 kids
Valencia - The Vikes should be tops in the Foothill. opens with Palmdale
Hart - does have 10 starters returning - did lose white and Erwin...too much??? opens with Downey.

Cathedral loses Paras, gains Henson

6-foot-7 senior Daron Henson has left Alemany and transferred to Cathedral, while 6-foot-6 UCLA commit Kobe Paras has decided to sit out this season at Cathedral.

Said Cathedral head coach William Middlebrooks, "Due to the difference in academic calendars between the United States and the Philippines, Kobe would exhaust his eight semesters of eligibility at the end of the 1st semester this year, His family made decision not to have him play for Cathedral for only half a basketball season."

Honor Bowl set for September 4-5

Four games are set to be played Sept. 4-5 as part of the Honor Bowl at Oceanside High. The event organizer, The Honor Group, is a nonprofit that raises funds to help equip wounded military veterans and assist them in returning to civilian life.

On Sept. 4, Alemany will face Colony at 5 p.m. and Oceanside will take on Bellevue (Wa.) Eastside Catholic at 8 p.m.

On Sept. 5, San Diego Cathedral Catholic will face Oaks Christian at 4 p.m., followed by Corona Centennial taking on Gardena Serra at 7:30 p.m.

The Centennial-Serra game will be broadcast by Time Warner Cable's Sportsnet.

High school coach fired over music video

On first look this looks like a knee-jerk reaction by the Simi Valley school district. They fired a respected assistant coach and mentor because his video dealt with drugs and violence. I haven't seen the video but you can get a feel for it in the link below. I'd like to see him reinstated immediately unless there's more to this than what's being depicted.

Vance Jackson to Prolific Prep

This is a few days old but figured I'd mention it here too. Vance Jackson has come to a decision. The 4 star senior St. John Bosco transfer is headed to Napa to play ball at Prolific Prep with the #1 player in 2016 Josh Jackson. He had his share of suitors such as Maranatha, Mater Dei, and others.

He follows Lehigh freshman and former St. Francis guard Kyle Leufroy as the first two Southern California residents to head to Wine County. The program plays a national schedule and has elite training and development.
