Latest on Anthony January

With the commitment of Winston Shepard, all eyes now turn to Anthony January from Taft high school. I talked to a source who told me San Diego St is also the leader for January even after the commitment from Shepard.

The source did tell me that January still needs to qualify, if not January will end up at Prep school most likely and then enroll at SDSU the Start of 2013 season.

2013 is along way from now, but as of today SDSU is the leader for January.

Recruiting rundown from Nike Extravaganza

Here goes my Recruiting rundown from Nike Extravaganza just some tidbits, this article will run on the site at sometime in the week but I decided to give it the premium members first.

The No.1 player in the country shooting guard Shabazz Muhammad told the media that he will decide sometime in April. Also said Arizona, UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and UNLV are all even and he has no favorite right now.

2013 Long Beach Poly Forward Jordan Bell told me that he has offers from Texas, St Johns, Notre Dame, Alabama, Virginia Tech, San Diego St and everybody in the PAC 12 minus UCLA, Stanford and Utah.

Mater Dei sophomore Stanley Johnson told me he will be playing his AAU ball with the Oakland Soldiers again this year, he also told me Washington is recruiting him the hardest right now.

Long Beach Poly Shooting guard Roschon Prince told me that San Diego St is his favorite right now and that they are recruiting him the hardest. Prince recently took a trip down to there to watch a game and he told me loved the atmosphere down there. He also told me he wasn’t sure if he would sign in the early period of his senior or the late period.

Shabazz Muhammad younger brother 2013 Rashad Muhammad said he will be taking an unofficial visit to UCONN sometime in the spring. Also said he’s been hearing from UNLV, UTEP, Colorado, Texas A&M, Northwestern and USC.

After his recent de-commitment from Utep Anthony January told me Memphis is the latest school to offer and is recruiting him hard. He still says San Diego St is his leader along with UNLV. UNLV has offered San Diego St has not.

2014 Whitney Young center Jhalil Okafor said Ohio St is recruiting him hard, also said Arizona, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan St, Georgetown, UCONN and few others.

Culver City locks up league title.

The Centaurs improved to 8-0 in league with an impressive double digit win over Inglewood. They have locked up the Ocean league championship with two games still to play. The Centaurs were clearly the more talented team except for in one aspect. Inglewood had the best shooter on the floor in Zhane Carter. The Centaurs used a triumvirate of players to keep Carter in check after she had some early success to help keep the Sentinels close. The game remained close until about mid way through the 3rd quarter when CC began to pull away and with Carter shut down, try as they may, the rest of the Inglewood team could not muster enough scoring punch. The Centaurs dominated all other aspects of the game. The diminutive 5'5" starting junior point guard, Taylor Tanita, is an impressive ball handler and although she does not quite have the shooting touch of Inglewood's Carter, almost every other aspect of her game is impressive. She even rebounds well by using proper positioning to aid against taller players. She can dish out the no look pass with ease, easily snap an inside pass to one of the talented forwards & if you try to defend the pass, she can drive the lane impressively & almost always scores or gets fouled. Tanita is not alone out there though as senior Markie Samler will provide some 3 point shooting capability and forward Lunden Junious at only 5'10" was an impressive force inside cleaning the defensive boards, blocking some shots and providing multiple offensive rebounds. Tanita, senior forward Mithzy Hernadez & sophomore 5'7" guard Kelsey Ueda stymied Ingelwood's Carter. The use of Hernadez & Ueda was essential to keep Tanita out of foul trouble. The Sentinels lack of a solid ball handler was a real problem for them as when the Centaur defense got aggressive, it often resulted in a turnover by the Sentinels.
