DeeJay Brown's appeal denied. No compassion!

Per Jack Pollon, Daily News:

Thousand Oaks coach Rich Endres confirmed DeeJay Brown's appeal to play basketball this season has been denied by a two-person panel.
This is Brown's fifth-year, although he falls well within the age limit to play.
"It all comes down having some compassion for this kid and what he went through and what he continues to go through," Endres said. "He has done everything he can possibly do to get on the right track. He is taking six solid courses this semester. He just wants to play a last season of basketball."
Brown and his mother suffered injuries from a violent attack by Brown's stepdad in New York.
Brown ended up in California and decided to stay on the West Coast, figuring it was better than to go back to a potentially worse situation in New York.
Brown was denied eligibility last year after Marmonte League principals recommended he shouldn't be allowed to play to the Southern Section office.
Brown lived and continues to live with Endres, who has helped turn his life around academically and socially.
Brown can appeal to the state level but Endres wasn't sure what the next step would be after another setback.
"He has been letdown by adults his entire life and this is just another example," Endres said. "This was another opportunity for educators to do something right and it didn't happen."

Icemen Basketball

Icemen Parent Referral

To all basketball families,
My name is James Rosser and I wanted to take a moment to express to you my profound and complete support of Coach Todd Malecki and his Icemen basketball program. We as a family have been in the Icemen program for almost 8 years. We started playing with Icemen back when our oldest son Matthew, now age 22, was a high school sophomore. Todd is first and foremost a teacher of the game. I appreciate the fact that he consistently reinforces fundamentals regardless if your new to basketball or have been playing for years. You will find no better advocate for your student athlete than Coach Malecki. His reputation in the basketball community is well known and he'll work tirelessly to get his guys on the radar of college coaches of all levels.

Our oldest son Matt was seen playing in a tournament for coach just prior to graduating his senior year. He was coming off minor knee surgery and hadn't gotten a lot of looks from colleges because of his rehab and recovery. Cal Poly Pomona coaches among others where in attendance and working with Todd, Matt was invited up for workouts and eventually signed a scholarship offer from the school. Our son not only recieved a quality education from a fantastic university, he was the starting point guard on Cal Poly Pomona's 2010 Division II National Championship Team. Matt has taken his basketball talents overseas, and he is now playing as a professional with the Philippine National Team.

We currently have our two younger son playing with Icemen. Brandon a high school senior and Jason a high school freshmen. B has become one of the best high school players in southern california and has received scholarship offers from universities from New York to California and plenty of states in between. This is primarily from his playing for Coach Malecki and Icemen.

In my opinion you can not find a better program than Icemen Basketball to give your child every opportunity to not only play but to excel at the next level!

Best Regards,
James Rosser

Campbell Hall adds 6-7 player

Per Jack Pollon, Daily News:

Colin Bell, a 6-foot-7 forward has transferred from Santa Monica to Campbell Hall. Bell joins sophomore guards Aaron Holiday and Khalil Simplis but it isn't clear if Bell will start the season right away or sit out until Jan. 1 due to transfer rules.
Bell is a junior athletically, although Campbell Hall has put him in 10th grade.
Bell would have to apply for a hardship to play a third year at Campbell Hall after his eligibility clock started in 2009-2010 at Santa Monica.

L.A. Cathedral trying for two separate boys basketball teams

L.A. Cathedral is interested in sponsoring a basketball team that would play simultaneously with its regular high school team but not be part of the CIF, Principal John Montgomery said Wednesday.
The only problem is it would be illegal under CIF rules, Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons said. A school can't have two separate teams, Simmons said.
It makes sense why first-year Coach William Middlebrooks would want to have two different teams. He has some transfers, including a 7-footer from Greece, who are ineligible to compete in the CIF this coming season. Another team would allow them to play immediately.
Montgomery said he wants to follow CIF rules and plans to discuss the idea with Southern Section officials.

Oaks Christian names new basketball coach

Here's the OC press release announcing the appointment of AJ Moye to be the new head coach:

Westlake Village, California--Oaks Christian School is taking its basketball program to the next level with the hiring of former Indiana University All American and pro player A.J. Moye who will assume the position of head basketball coach. Last season, Coach Moye distinguished himself while serving as the OCS assistant head basketball coach. His experience at Oaks Christian School and his familiarity with the players will allow him to advance the OC basketball program to even greater success.

Moye brings with him more than a decade of experience at the college and pro level. In 2004, he was named one of the top 15 players in the Big Ten Conference. He went on to lead on European pro teams in Finland, Iceland, and Germany where he received MVP and All-Star honors. Moye's current role as the director of player development for Rival Sports Group has given him training expertise, working with highly skilled athletes. He has prepared top college players for the NBA draft. In 2012, he was responsible for court workouts for Marcus and Markieff Morris, Jrue and Justin Holiday, Tyler Honeycutt, and the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NBA draft, Thomas Robinson. In his high school career, Moye attended Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia where as a senior he was named the USA Today State Player of the Year (2000), was voted as the state Boys Basketball Player of Year, and named the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year. That same year, he was recruited by Coach Bobby Knight to play for Indiana University.

Moye is a coach who inspires athletes with his passion for the game and his strong Christian values. His professional and personal philosophy is well suited to the faith-based mission of Oaks Christian School. "Coach Moye performed at a high level for Oaks Christian as a varsity assistant last year," said OCS Athletic Director Jan Hethcock. "He brings to the program excellent basketball knowledge and experience coupled with mature Christian faith. He has played at all levels and understands the importance of academics first. We look forward to Coach Moye taking Oaks Christian School to the next level in basketball"

Outstanding 9th grader won't be at Sierra Canyon after all

Jack Pollon, Daily News:
It looks as though freshman Leland Green will not be in classes on the first day of school Tuesday at Sierra Canyon.
Green, who played with the Trailblazers during the summer is expected to enroll at Redondo Union.
Green would have formed quite a ninth grade trio with outstanding point guard Derryck Thornton and Devearl Ramsey.

Top Clinic for Coaches, Trainers, and Players, October 6th-7th

Certificationbanner.jpg

Jeremy Russott's Skill Training U Trainer Certification Program has announced its next big event, October 6th-7th in Oakland, CA. The event will be held at Holy Names University, for coaches, trainers, players, and dedicated parents. It is a 2-day event, with 14 hours of court specific instruction. Jeremy is a trainer for the some of the top high school, NCAA, and Professional basketball players. This is Jeremy Russotti's premier event, where attendee's receive his 28+ page Syllabus with every drill for every facet of individual training that he provides in his distinguised Green Room Training Program (www.greenroomtraining.net). For those that have his four Millennium Series DVDs, only around 35% makes up his 28+ page syllabus. Therefore, the majority of his teachings (65%) is for this special exclusive event. Says Jeremy, "at first I was hesitant to run this event and share with others what I have been studying and building for the past 11 years. However, after the Vegas event, I saw how appreciative the coaches were and how we have completely changed their philosophy on how they run their practices. That far outweighed taking my curriculum to my grave."

We will also be adding former NBA player and current D1 Coach Rex Walters (University of San Francisco) for shooting instruction, and one of the top Strength and Conditioning Coaches John Murray (Former Golden State Warriors Strength & Conditioning Coach). To visit our new website with video footage and testimonials from our 1st Las Vegas event, please visit www.skilltrainingu.com.
We open only 35 spots for this event and have already had 18+ verbal committments before announcing today. This event will no doubt sell out. However, they are planning events all around the country this spring and next summer, with events in Memphis, Indiana, Orlando and Las Vegas.

Please visit the website for more details about the event. Or visit the link below which will take you to the schedule and where to download our amazing PDF Flyer kit.

http://skilltrainingu.com/events.html

FOR PLAYERS: They are also offerring 4 spots to high school age players (must be varsity level talent) to train and learn during the event. For players it is basically the most elite, jam packed basketball camp they will ever attend. We are only offerring 4 open spots to the public!!! To register email Jeremy ASAP for a spot. The cost is $400. Says Jeremy, "this is a great opportunity for players to learn everything they need to know about Skill Training, and as well the biomechanics for each movement. Since I do not train many high school kids personally this is the best opportunity to get a ton of information and court time in a weekend."

At the first event in Vegas, the attendance ranged from NBA Head Coaches, Professional Overseas, SEC Assistant, National Juco, D2 Assistants, high school, and AAU Coaches. Therefore, it is the ultimate networking and social event as well.

For more information contact Jeremy at (707) 849-1212, or via email info@skilltrainingu.com. To see some of Jeremy's workouts live, please visit the link below of him training Shabazz Muhammad and NBA Summer League surprise player Josh Akognon.
