The Patriots of Orange Glen will play at Del Norte on Monday, January 8th while LaCosta Canyon will host Poway High on 1-5-18 at 7 PM

Willauer-Contributing Writer-In a New Years Kickoff Classic Basketball Tournament contest that was played at Orange Glen High School in Escondido, AndresTovar 19 points, Damien Miller 16 points and 8 rebounds along with Patriot teammate Caden Palmer 10 points the Orange Glen Patriots at 9-4 by a 59-52 score.

For the Bobcats of Sage Creek 3-4 were led by Jailen Nelson and Nick Sonck with 23 and 14 points respectively will be at Mission Hills High School on January 9, 2018 while Orange Glen will be Lacosta Canyon High School on Thursday, January 4, 2018 tipoff for both games is 7:00 pm

Cerritos College to Host CIF State FB Championship Bowl Games Beginning 2018

Per CIF Press Release:

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Executive Director Roger Blake today announced that Cerritos College – Falcon Stadium will serve as the main host site for the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games from 2018-19, with a third-year option for 2020, pending approval of the appropriate agencies.

“The CIF is pleased to return to Cerritos College in southern California for another State Championship event,” said CIF Executive Director Roger Blake. “The CIF is committed to continue to provide a true championship experience for all those involved in education-based athletics.”

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-In the first game of the New Years's Tip Off Boys Basketball Tournament, the Bobcats of Sage Creek fall to the Golden Bears of Temecula High School by a 71-55 score.

Nick Sonck led Sage Creek with 22 points and 10 by Dacarai Allen.

With the defeat the Bobcats fall to 3-2 and will play in the consolation round of the New Year's Tip Off Tournament.

Mission Bay finishes in 3rd place at Holiday Basketball Classic

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Torrey Pines High School-San Diego, CA-12-30-17: The Miracle Team of the Buccaneers of Mission Bay High School known for their outstanding shooters one came from 6'2" guard named Rajean "Boogie" Ellis who finished in the game with 31 points and was named to the National All Tournament Team defeated the top ranked in the team from Ohio in St. Edwards High School by a 64-57 score and finished in 3rd place in the National Division of the Holiday Basketball Christmas Tournament that was held at Torrey Pines High School.

Marshawn Cherry Mission Bay Boys Basketball Coach: "We were hoping after last nights semi final loss against Bishop O Connell (VA) that we came back in the game on their shooting showed it tonight on the court." "We adjusted on St. Edwards rotation tonight, made some changes on offense and defense and Boogie Ellis did what he has to do on the court when he is locked and focused, he is the best player in the city of San Diego by far as I told our squad if we compete and play hard we could get some wins and did it tonight."

When I competed on the court my coach told me to stay poised, also to work on my shots as I led my team to the victory." By David A.Willauer-Contributing Writer-Friday, December 29, 2017-Sage Creek High School-Carlsbad, CA: In a Mayors Division Consolation Round of the 2017 Holiday Basketball Classic sponsored by Torrey Pines High School the Bobcats of Sage Creek High School fall to 2-2 on the season as they were defeated by San Luis Obispo High School by a 69-51 score.

Jailen Nelson led the Cats with 17 points and 11 by Nick Sonck.

The Bobcats will take on Lodi in a consolation final round game.

Rancho Buena Vista Boys Basketball Report By David A. Willauer

In a consolation quarter final game that was held at Sage Creek High School, 23 points by Jack Bailey and 12 by Peyton Ramirez paced the Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista High School to a 73-32 win over O Farrell High School of San Diego.

In the consolation semi final round of the Holiday Basketball Classic, the Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns improve their record to 10-4 on the season as they defeated Moreno Valley of CA by a 48-41 score in a semi final round Mayors Division contest. Jack Bailey led the Longhorns with 19 points in the game.

The Falcons improve to 11-2 on the season.

Ty Ballard led the Frogs of Guajome Park at 7-1 with 18 points

The Frogs will await who they play on Thursday, December 28th.

With the win the Panthers improve to 8-2 and will take on the Fallbrook Warriors on Friday, January 5th at Fallbrook.

With the win the Longhorns improve to 8-3 and ride a 6 game win streak and also went 5-0 in the Cougar Classic Basketball Tournament.

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Green Gable Estates-San Marcos, CA: The Mission HIlls Football team of 2017 known for their heroic plays and miracle comeback wins were honored at the 2017 football banquet that was held at the Green Gable Estates in San Marcos, CA. The following players were honored with various awards and conference honors.

Other outstanding achievements that the Grizzlies were honored as they finished in 2nd place with a 12-1 season as they suffered their first lost in the CIF Open Division San Diego Section Final Game to Helix to a well played 27-19 win at Southwest College in Chula Vista, CA, along with being crowned Avocado League Champions and defeated the Knights of San Marcos for the 14th Annual Discovery Bowl Trophy.

Chris Olave WR 93 catches scored 23 touchdowns for a total of 1764 yards which is a CIF San Diego record.

Nate Barraza kicked and punted after 3 kickers on MH transferred to other schools. The punt return team scored 4 touchdowns total 2 by Maurice Jones, 1 td by Chris Olave and Max Milner ran for a 70 yard return for a td.

Ezekiel Matta on field goals 66 PAT's which is a school record kicked the ball total 80 times made one of the punts for 70 yards.

Caden Palmer and Damien Miller each contributed with 21 points apiece for the Patriots and will host the Mavericks of LaCosta Canyon on January 2nd.

Noah Fields led the Longhorns with 14 points, 13 points each by Jamul Bell, Janso Danso and Jack Bailey.
