Week 5 Point Spreads

No Thursday games and a whole lot of byes...So let's include the two Saturday Games.
_____________________________________________________________________________

Simple contest. You pick the winner of each high school game with the point spread included. The poster who picks the most games correctly wins the contest.
Is it really week 4 already?...My the time flies.
______________________________________________________________________________

Example: Norco is playing Centennial. Centennial is favored by 17 1/2 points. The line will look this way:

Centennial -17 1/2 Norco

If you choose Centennial. They must win by 18 points for you to win.
If you choose Norco. They must keep the game within 17 points for you to win.

Friday night, Centennial beats Norco 34-21. Centennial wins the game by 13 points therefore those that took Centennial get a loss in our contest; those that took Norco get a win.

The poster with the most wins is our Victor.
______________________________________________________________________________

What do you win? STARS. Since there is no money involved, we play for STARS! The poster with the most correct picks, wins that week's STAR (Not an easy thing to do).

The poster with the most STARS at the end of the season becomes our CHAMPION.

Rancho Buena Vista records first home win in 33-0 win over rival Vista in Lions Club Trophy

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Rancho Buena Vista High School-Vista, CA-In a town called Vista, CA known for the movie Friday Night Lights where 2 tradition schools between the Panthers of Vista and the Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista play for the Lions Club Trophy.

In tonight's game there was no scoring in the first half as Vista had 30 yards on 6 five yard offside penalties, 8 for 55 and for RBV 7 five yard offside penalties, 9 for 60 yards

The second half started after Vista punted and the ball was downed at the Panthers 41 yard line, qb Connor Underhill, known for his speed ran for 77 yards as he scored on a 41 yard touchdown with the PAT good as they led 7-0. After another Vista possession of the ball, the Longhorns intercepted tailback and speedy Gino Trapasso carried the ball for 179 yards and scored touchdowns runs of 10, 82 on a left sweep play and 14 yards to make the final score 33-0 in favor of Rancho Buena Vista.

Shane Graham First Year Head Coach of Rancho Buena Vista High School: "In our first 2 games as we played Castle Park and Monte Vista which helps our squad to prepare for North County football, that means you have to outhit your opponent to win in this county if not you might as well stay home." "Before the game we hit the sleds hard which
help us prepare for Vista." "Trapasso and Underhill are a great combination, while I was hired, I designed a new offense in the spring, the kids had trouble learning the play but went over it until we started know it more." "Underhill is a new transfer us from Rancho Bernardo and Gino Trapasso is a talented junior running back and skilled like you wouldn't believe."

RBV Connor Underhill 1 completions out of 7 attempts for 24 yards

V Russell Chavez 3 completions out of 18 attempts for 23 yards Luis Martinez 1 reception for 18 yards

Vista leads the series 21-12. This is Rancho Buena Vista's first win at home. Last RBV win was in 2017 as they won over Vista 27-17. Last RBV shutout over Vista was in 2012 as they won 36-0. Other RBV shutouts were 11-0 in 2007 and in 1992 14-0

Interesting Week 2 Games...What are your thoughts?

Rancho Verde at Etiwanda...Preseason this appeared to be a great match-up...After last week, I am not so sure...Etiwanda is surely a team on the rise...They own a solid win vs. Aquinas and a dominating performance over an out matched South Hills...Rancho Verde may be a team in flux...A shockingly poor performance vs. a good Citrus Valley team has me questioning how much the loss of Coach Duffy is affecting this herd of Mustangs...Can they compete here...This Thursday night contest still may be worth the price of admission.

Norco at Rancho Cucamonga...Two good programs facing off early in the season...I like this match-up...I personally believe Norco is one of the two best teams in the IE this season...the win over Vista Murrieta supports my view...A solid schedule means they are going to have to prove it week-in and week-out...Rancho Cucamonga is in a similar boat...Solid win over a well thought of Apple Valley squad last week sets them up for this clash...They will compete but do they have enough to conquer and finish the night at 2-0?

Centennial vs. Sierra Canyon...Saturday at Cathedral in San Diego...Sierra Canyon sure has come a long way this past decade...already with wins over JSerra and Oaks Christian, this battle hardened group steps up this week to see how high they really stand vs. Centennial...To what level will the Huskies play this season...This is the second week in a row they face a team with a higher rating...Last week they proved that notion to be silly...What will happen this week?

How about adding your thoughts?

Week 1 Point Spread Results...Do you know the way to San Jose

As a group we did much better this week with everybody finishing well above .500...In a down-to-the-wire finish TraderJose rose to his first STAR beating out TVGB9582 and FrmrOlineguy by just one game...That one game makes TraderJose our STAR winner for Week 1.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The favored went 21-10 straight up in Week 1 and are now 42-17 on the season...Again seven more games flipped when the points spreads were added...meaning it was the second Dog night in a row as the Favored finished 14-17...They also trail on the season at 26-31-2.

Kiah Reid 2 touchdowns and Peja Tausulu's 5 yard game winner paces El Camino to 21-13 win

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Herb Meyer Stadium-El Camino High School-Oceanside, CA-Friday, August 20, 2021: A year after COVID hit our country and all the sports were played in the spring, the 2021 high school football season opened up with a lot of good defensive plays, turnovers but mostly quarterback interceptions which lead to touchdowns which is called the opening game jitters.

In a well played football game that was contested at Herb Meyer Stadium on the El Camino campus, the "Miracle" Camino magic of Kiah Reid (Passing 8 completions out of 15 attempts for 83 yards 3 interceptions and 10 carries for 38 yards 2 touchdown runs of 2 and 3 yards) after trailing 13-7, scored his first touchdown on a 2 yard run to go up 7-0, scored the game winning touchdown on a 3 yard run with the PAT good to go up 14-13. Again the Miracle Camino Magic came back as Pe'a Tausulu (7 carries for 45 yards)known for his skills on the offensive and defensive line, was inserted in the fullback position as he ran the ball for 5, 9, 4 yards his last carry scored the Camino magic touchdown on a 5 yard dive which ended up on 9 plays 98 yards to make the final score 21-13 in favor of the El Camino Wildcats.

Michael Hobbs head football coach of El Camino: "We struggled a bit and continued to battle we dug ourselves out before, its a good team effort on this opening game." "QB Kiah Reid made errors as he threw 4 interceptions in the first half, which one of them resulted in a touchdown. "He disciplined himself on why he made mistakes improve a lot in the second half and did his responsibilities on the field." "Kiah and I have made mistakes on calls in the first half, but as the game improved we continued to talk with each other."

"On the game winning touchdown Kiah Reid 14-13 continues to play well as we communicate the important plays that we use for our touchdowns." "Pe'a Tausulu mostly plays on the offensive and defensive line as I wanted to pick him at fullback has done well for us and will let him run the ball more. " said Coach Hobbs

Kiah Reed El Camino QB: "I threw 3 interceptions in the first half so I leaned on my offensive lineman for me to run the ball more. As we trailed 13-7 our offense wasn't sharp all of us have our own issues even though it's a team game we made some mistakes In the second half I was more confident on my throwing and passing ability when I scored the go ahead touchdown to go up 14-13 we were fired up played well throughout the game

Other performers

El Camino Mylam Curry 20 carries for 95 yards Tate Reed 6 receptions 64 yards

St. Augustine's Isaiah Pressley 12 carries for 92 yards Kyle Herberger 4 completions out of 14 attempts for 37 yards 1 touchdown pass of 20 yards to Ayo Shotonide and teammate Justin Johnson 22 yards interception return for a touchdown.
