Classical Academy and Granite Hills makes school history with First CIF San Diego Titles

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Escondido High School-Escondido, CA-Saturday, November 26, 2022: The Crawford Colts attempted to win their first San Diego Section CIF Football title since 1961 again this season as they led 7-0 at halftime on Hamidi Sharif's (39 yards rushing) scored the first touchdown of 4 yards

The second half was all Classical Academy Caimans at 9-3 as they scored 19 points in the 3rd and 14 in the fourth quarters as they defeated the Colts of Crawford for their first Division V CIF San Diego Section Football in school history. Crawford's record is 2-4 in CIF Final Games.

QB Luke Sega threw for 61 yards passing 1 touchdown pass of 53 yards to Life Pollard (1 reception for 53 yards-rushed for 138 yards scored 3 touchdown runs on the ground of 2, 57 and 37 yards)

Crawford scored their second touchdown in the game as qb Gavin Nguyen threw for 214 yards found wide receiver Trevon Banks (86 yards receiving) for a 2 yarder.

The Colts finished their season as 11-2 and are 1-5 in CIF Section Finals. Classical Academy will take on Lancaster High School in a State Playoff playoff contest.

Fallbrook Warriors fall to Yellowjackets of Palo Verde Valley 33-14-Mission Hills defeated by Mater Dei 34-29

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Escondido High School-Escondido, CA-Friday November 25, 2022: For the first time since 2014 and 2015 the Fallbrook Warriors finished the 2022 season with a winning record at 9-3 and for the second year in a row, they met the Yellowjackets of Palo Verde Valley. In 2021 CIF San Diego Section football playoffs , the Warriors fell by a 29-28 score finished the season with a 5-7-1 record in Blythe as they reached the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Under first year head coach Ross Johnson he guided the Warriors to his first CIF San Diego Section title, their 4th in school history but the for the second year in a row the Warriors fell to the Yellowjackets of Palo Verde Valley by a 33-14 score.

Palo Verde Valley performers at 12-1: Marcis Nelson Leading Rusher for PVV 169 yards 2 touchdown runs 11 and 46 yards.

Fallbrook Head Coach Ross Johnson: "We ran the ball today along with some of the mistakes that we made as we got sloppy in a few areas that resulted in negative play.s. " "Our offense gets built up on 5 yards on every play as it's difficult to overcome." "On the Evan Thomas 17 yard pass to Kyle Collins, we haven't run that play a lot but got hit with negative plays at first but the pass for 17 yards was executed well with leading rusher Kyle Christofferson who is one of the best backs in North County he did what we expected him to do as he ran the ball hard is a bruising runner

The Fallbrook Warriors have reached their 4th overall CIF San Diego Section Final in School History. Fallbrook has won 2 CIF Titles in 1986 with a 28-14 win over Vista and in 2000 where they defeated Carlsbad 20-12. Fallbrook lost in the CIF San Diego Section Final in 2003 by a 7-3 score to Torrey Pines. Fallbrook is 2-2 in championship games.

The Yellowjackets of Palo Verde Valley made their 4th appearance in the CIF in school history in 2004 lost to Santa Fe Christian by a 20-12 score, in 2006 lost to Christian 35-12 won their second title in 2022 the other CIF title was in 2021 where they defeated Mission Bay 41-19. Palo Verde is 2-2 in San Diego Section Titles.

Last appearances for the Grizzlies was in 2017 where they finished undefeated and lost to the Helix Highlanders at Southwestern College. North County San Diego Section CIF Wrap up for 11-18-22

Mission Hills 28 El Camino 21

MH performers: Santiago Salas 2 yard touchdown run. After El Camino fumbled the ball,MH QB Keaton Smith threw for 2 touchdowns of 13 and 5 yards. MH 98 yards kickoff return for a touchdown. EC performers: Devin Certa 1 yard touchdown. Ray Taele 3 yard run, Zuriel Eatmon 11 yard touchdown run. Mission Hills will take on Mater Dei next week in Southwestern College in El Cajon. The last time Mission Hills appeared in the CIF Division finals was in 2017 when they were defeated by Helix 27-21 and suffered their first loss of the season. 2 former Mission Hills athletes from the 2017 team were Chris Olave currently playing for the New Orleans Saints after playing at Ohio State and Jack Tuttle a backup qb at Indiana.

Fallbrook 21 Mission Bay 3

FB: Alan Leon 2 touchdowns. Will play Palo Verde Valley for the Division IV Championship at Escondido High School on Friday, November 25. In 2021, these 2 schools met on the facilities of Palo Verde Valley and fell short by a 29-28 score in a semi final round as they finished at 5-7 . This is Fallbrook's first time in a CIF Final Round game since 2000 when they defeated Carlsbad 50-12 for a CIF title at Qualcomm Stadium.

KJ Cheatham 2 touchdown passes paces Lincoln High SD to a 28-24 win over Carlsbad

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Snapdragon Stadium-San Diego, CA-Friday, November 18, 2022: In 2021 for the San Diego Section Division I title that was held at Escondido High School the Hornets of Lincoln fell short of their goal as they were defeated by the Highlanders of Helix Highlanders by a 28-21 score.

This year was a different story as the Hornets came back from a 24-13 deficit as starting quarterback KJ Cheatham threw for 176 yards along with 3 touchdown passes of 29 yards to Josiah Cox, 80 yards to Malik Gray (90 yards receiving) and the game winner of 65 yards to Corey Thompson MIller (99 yards receiving) as they defeated the Lancers of Carlsbad by a 28-24 score in the first high school game that was played at Snapdragon Stadium.

Other Lincoln players who contributed: Georgia bound Roderick Robinson 128 yards rushing scored 1 touchdown run of 2 yards

Carlsbad players: Mason Walsh led the Lancers with 129 yards rushing along with 2 touchdown runs of 73 yards to put Carlsbad up 7-0 and a 6 yarder. Justin johnson ran an interception return for 57 yards, Tyler Praham connected on a 31 yard field goal.

Corey Thompson Miller: " Coach Carter tells me there is going to be adversity in every game that we prepare for so I have responsibilities that I did as we came back from the big deficit of 24-13 to the game winning touchdown the play was set for me as II needed catch the ball for the go ahead touchdown as I also give credit to my offensive line."

Since 2011 under the guidance of Lincoln head coach David Dunn, he won his 3rd San Diego Section CIF football title overall.

Alabama bound qb Julian Sayin threw for 278 yards along with 2 touchdown passes of 34 and 46 yards to wide receiver Justin Jefferson (130 yards receiving) and scored on a 1 yard run Nico Arbot ( 21 yards rushing)scored on an 8 yard run, Tyler Prashan's 32 yard field goal and Mason Walsh (led the Lancers in rushing with 70 yards) scored on a 19 yard touchdown run.

Thadd McNeil Carlsbad Head Football Coach of Carlsbad High School: "As we make the CIF finals for our 3rd year in a row, it's a great opportunity for us every year that will be different for us as we'are excited to be back in the finals Running back Mason Walsh, who wrestles for us, went over his career for 1000 total yards rushing and is only a junior. I was very pleased with his performance today running the ball."

The Titans of Poway conclude their season as they finish with a 10-1 record are led by Connor Rath with 79 yards rushing and qb Dillon Curry 31 yards passing

With the win the Lancers of Carlsbad improve to 10-1 and will take on the winner of the Lincoln vs. Madison contest that will be held next Friday, November 18, 2022 at Snapdragon Stadium.

Fallbrook Warriors defeat Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns 20-6 share Valley League title with San Pasqual

Willauer-Contributing Writer-10-28-22-Warriors Stadium-Fallbrook High School-Fallbrook, CA-The improving Warriors of Fallbrook HIgh football squad wrapped up their miracle season with a 7-3 record behind Joshua Gomez 2 field goals of 33 and 21 yards, QB Evan Thomas scored on a 1 yard run and threw for 36 yard pass to Sean Farish,

The Longhorns got their only score that tied the game at 6-6 Connor Underhill 24 yard pass to Emmanuel Mitchell

For the first time since 2014 and 2015 the Warriors recorded their first winning season at 7-3 along with a share of the Valley League Title with San Pasqual. Fallbrook will be making their second trip to the CIF San Diego Section as they have advanced with a Bye will play the winner of the Hilltop vs. Francis Parker contest. In 2021, the Warriors were defeated in the playoffs by Blythe Palo Verde 29-28
