LaJolla Country Day School defeats Cathedral Catholic in Ladies Open Division Final

Willauer-Contributing Writer-2-29-20-RIMAC Arena-University of California at San Diego-LaJolla, CA-The Lady Torreys of LaJolla Country Day School known for their girls basketball tradition improve their record 29-1 overall as they defeated the Lady Dons of Cathedral Catholic by a 54-37 score thus claiming their 15th overall CIF Section San Diego title overall.

Terri Bamford Head Girls Basketball Coach at LaJolla Country Day School: "We enjoyed this game until the last minute after the turnovers and mistakes that we made our kids competed well."

"When we led at the half by a 22-21 our opponent out rebounded us as we didn't execute our plays speed and precision, when we started our tempo on the defensive side." "My 3 headed monsters Te Hina Pao Pao, Breya Cunningham and Jazzy Anousinh performed well throughout the game that's how we won." "Were excited where we are as the 1 seed but wait until the CIF Selection show make the choice." said Coach Banford.

Te-Hina Pao Pao leading scorer for LaJolla Country Day School: "It was a special team effort for us along with a great win we came together as one unit and came out on top" "First half we had trouble moving our offense after commiting too many turnovers at the half our head coach settled us down in the locker room but in the second half we played better on defense and improved on our baskets."

Te Hina Paopao led the Lady Torreys with 26 points and 13 rebounds, 15 by Breya Cunningham and 11 by Jazzy Anousinh.

Isuneh (Ice) Brady led the Lady Dons at 19-11 with 16 points and 13 boards and will await who they will play in the CIF State Tournament.

LaJolla Country Day School and Cathedral Catholic will await who they will play in the CIF Girls State High School Basketball Tournament.
