Aerial Attack and Ground Game Leads Mission Hills in 37-21 win over El Camino

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-4-9-21-Jack Ashby Field-Mission Hills High School-San Marcos, CA: Mission Hills football squad improves to 4-0 on the season put on an aerial display last night at Jack Ashby Field, on a 1 yard touchdown by Cameron Woolsley, Riley Fountain's 6 yarder for a score, QB Gunner Hensley threw for 1 54 yards including a 74 yard touchdown pass to Matt Martin (4 receptions for 113 yards), and scored on a 1 yard touchdown along with Cameron Riddell's 8 yard score as he carried the ball for 147 yards defeated the Wildcats of El Camino by a 37-21 score.

Mission Hills Head Football Coach Chris Hauser: "It was a back and forth game to me it had that kind of destination that El Camino didn't give up scored later in the second half, they are a good team.: For football the phrase is you play 4 quarters that is what football is all about, you responsibilities of the game is to finish, halftime doesn't mean anything until the final score."

Jr Canaan Riddell had a huge game for us tonight as he's been put in a great role with our senior running back Cameron Woolsley who suffered a knee injury in our first game which sidelined him for the rest of the year Canaan has played a major role and has responded week in and out has improved on his running game every week." " In the second half, El Camino took away our throwing game as our offensive line controled the line of scrimmage and opening holes for Canaan running the ball." "I thought we did well as Gunner Hensley who is a talented young man who gets over things in which he does and doesn't let things bother him as he's trying to figure out why that happened and be the hardest critic in which we like at the same time he is our starting quarterback talented as he continues to improve each game, he has so much good football ahead of him were looking forward to him next week when we play San Marcos ." said Coach Hauser

El Camino 2-2 scored their touchdowns by Connor Malauulu's on a 1 yard run as he ran for 23 yards, teammates Kamuela Katiaki scored on a 2 yard run and Larry Ward's fumble recovery.

The Grizzlies of Mission Hills will close their season next week when they take on rival San Marcos for the Discovery Bowl Trophy while El Camino will host Oceanside for the Mayors Trophy next Friday April 16 kickoff is 7 PM

Ground game paces Carlsbad Lancers in 30-12 win over Oceanside Pirates

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-John Carroll Stadium-Oceanside, CA: The Carlsbad Lancers known for their air attack from the amazing passing of University of Pennsylvania bound Aiden Sayen, who passed for 132 yards and rushed for 29 yards along with a 9 yard touchdown, decided to go to the ground game as their record improves 3-0 on the season behind the 202 yards rushing 2 touchdown runs 9 and 32 yards by speedster Mazlo Norwood and Matthew Moore carried for 34 yards and scored 1 touchdown run of 31 yards defeated the 0-3 Oceanside Pirates by a 30-12 score.

In the second half we didn't pound our backs against the wall as we went to our ground game which helped our offense a lot the good thing is we didn't turn the ball over throughout the game, but the main thing is that I am fine that we won and that was the key to the game." said Head Football Coach Thadd MacNeil of Carlsbad. "Mazlo Norwood is a senior and is one of my best back, after being injured is doing well ."

Mazlo Norwood running back Carlsbad with 202 yards: "This football season is different this feels like it's our last so we have to keep playing as a team." " Our team kept working off season with weights so we can get ready for football." "On my touchdown run I give a lot of credit to my offensive line they worked hard in the trenches to get the job done tonight."

Oceanside was led by running back Kavika Tua with 2 touchdowns as he carried the ball for 26 yards and scored a 6 yard touchdown along with a 20 yards touchdown reception for 60 yards total.

QB Jakob Harris Threw for 144 yards with 1 interception Miki Hardaway threw for 82 yards.

Oceanside will host St. Augustine next Friday, April 9th while Carlsbad host LaCosta Canyon kickoff is at 7 PM
