Husson Longstreet's 3 touchdown sparks Inglewood (LA) spoils Carlsbad in Lancer Home Opener

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Swede Krcmar Stadium-Carlsbad High School-Carlsbad, CA-Friday September 2, 2022:

The Carlsbad Lancers were 2021 CIF Section runners up when that undefeated season came to an end, as they fell to the Dons of Cathedral Catholic and the sensational running of Lucky Sutton (currently in his freshman year at San Diego State).

But today was the same thing as the Lancers ran into a very fast moving Sentinals of Inglewood High School (from the Los Angeles area) as Carlsbad (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season by a 35-18 score.

Inglewood's top performer in the game was qb Hussan Longstreet as he scored on a 1 yard touchdown run and also threw for 161 yards and touchdown passes of 40 yards to Bryce Parker and 12 yards to Justin Johnson who totaled 77 yards receiving and scored on a 6 yard run for a touchdown. Running back Dane Reed led the Sentinals with 199 yards rushing with a 49 yard touchdown.

Carlsbad's top performers in the game: Mason Walsh rushed for 66 yards scored 1 touchdown run of 1 yard, Jr quarterback Julian Sayin threw for 107 yards and 2 touchdown passes of 12 yards to Griffin Rosenblum (56 yards). Carlsbad will travel to El Camino High School in Oceanside, CA on Friday, September 9th

Week 2 Point Spreads...A Whole Lotta Thursday

Almost a third of the schedule will be played on Thursday this week. I love Thursday games.
_____________________________________________________________________________

Simple contest. You pick the winner of each high school game with the point spread included. The poster who picks the most games correctly wins the contest.
______________________________________________________________________________

Example: Norco is playing Centennial. Centennial is favored by 17 1/2 points. The line will look this way:

Centennial -17 1/2 Norco

If you choose Centennial. They must win by 18 points for you to win.
If you choose Norco. They must keep the game within 17 points for you to win.

Friday night, Centennial beats Norco 34-21. Centennial wins the game by 13 points therefore those that took Centennial get a loss in our contest; those that took Norco get a win.

The poster with the most wins is our Victor.
______________________________________________________________________________

What do you win? STARS. Since there is no money involved, we play for STARS! The poster with the most correct picks, wins that week's STAR (Not an easy thing to do).

The poster with the most STARS at the end of the season becomes our CHAMPION.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Sound easy enough? Then let's play!

Cameron Howard sparks El Camino to a 41-7 win over Grossmont

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-El Camino High School-Oceanside High School-8-26-22: The Wildcats of El Camino opened up their win last week at St. Augustine's Saints by a 29-13 score and today's game was a huge win on Ray Toole's 4 yard touchdown and rushed for 16 yards, QB Carson Howard's (threw for 145 yards) 7 yard touchdown run and rushed for 34 yards along with 2 touchdown passes of passes of 21 and 5 yards to Tate Reed (60 yards receiving) as they defeated the Foothillers of Grossmont High by a 41-7 score. Zuriel Eatmon's scored on a 9 yard run and teammate Pisa Tisoramo scored on a 1 yard fun.

Grossmont scored their only touchdown in the 4th quarter as qb John Butcher (114 yards passing) threw a 40 yard pass to wide receiver Justin Brown

Michael Hobbs Head Football coach of El Camino on the win: I felt that Carson Howard came out a little slow but he dug himself out of the rut for me as a coach that I wanted to see things happen at first.""Carson came out missed a couple of key passes, he came off to the sidelines with confidence and told me that I am going to get our offense fixed and throughout the rest of the game he opened up more with his passes that sparked us for the win."

The Wildcats improve to 2-0 and will host the AZ ranked Pioneers from Pinnacle High School from Phoenix, Arizona in a Non League Game.

RC lost it’s starting RB and WR early in the first qtr.
RC lead 13-3 at the half.
Both defenses held off the others offense.
AV is too one-dimensional but had a huge left side of that Oline. RC defense looked pretty fast. AV couldn’t throw the ball one because RC DB’s, secondly, they just can’t throw. Late in the 4th the QB missed 2 WIDE open throws. The second would have resulted in a go ahead score.
RC QB throws a nice ball, but meh…
Good to be out to a game though.

Week 1 Point Spreads...Moving Right Along

Week 0 gave us some good incite as to where this season is heading...Week 1 should reveal even more.
