RB Noah Snyder and Eli Griffin paces San Pasqual to 50-20 win for Bear Award

Willauer-Contributing Writer-San Pasqual High School-Escondido, CA-8-19-22: For the first time after 2 years of COVID the San Pasqual Eagles and the Patriots of Orange Glen High for the Battle of the Bear Award that started in 1985 after the administrators of both schools decided to design the trophy for tradition as these institutions are 4 miles apart on the Bear Valley Parkway.

The Eagles took their first lead 7-0 at on Wes Parker's (43 yards rushing) 82 1 yard run with the PAT good.

In the second quarter, Orange Glen regained the lead 8-7 as qb Amari Washington (threw for 145 yards passing and 2 touchdowns) connected on a 16 yard strike to Aiden Gomez (34 yards reception). His second td pass went to 63 yards to Cael Rivera. The other Orange Glen touchdown came with no time left on the clock as backup qb Cash Herrera connected to Mike Guera for a 17 yarder

San Pasqual regained the lead 8-7 and took control of the game on QB Eli Griffin(rushed for 143 yards, passed for 80 yards) scored on an 82 yarder and threw a 55 yarder to Adrian Leon, Mark Snyder's, carried the ball for 129 yards in the game scored 3 touchdown runs of 1, 55 and 4 yards

"Orange Glen came out hard did well, our offense started executing their plays and have we turned things after 2 turnovers we made the big plays which turned our ballclub around and settled down with the first game jitters" "QB Eli Griffin did a great job running and passing and have people that we can throw to for the big plays." said San Pasqual Head Football Coach Tony Corley

The Eagles has won their 20th straight Bear Award title and lead the series at 31-14-1. The last time the Patriots won was in 2003 by a 26-20 score played at Orange Glen's Dick Disney Stadium.
