I have arrived in Arcadia and my knee jerk reaction is disappointment at the fact that this school hosts one of the biggest high school track meets in the nation and has only one snack bar and one restroom on the home side of the field, I know buildings aren't cheap but come on

Here are schedules for Regional and State Championship Bowl games

Per CIF Press Release:

As of today, it appears that all CIF Sections will be able to complete their respective Championships and advance their representatives except for possibly the North Coast Section (NCS) Divisions I-V. The NCS has four entries into the CIF State Regionals that may be impacted. We have asked the NCS to continue to work closely with their participating teams as to what is the best path forward for their schools without regard for their entries to CIF Regional Bowl Games.

The CIF recognizes the 100-year plus history and importance of Section Championships. NCS participation in the CIF State Football Regional and State Championship Bowl Games will be a decision left up entirely to the NCS participating schools and the NCS. If the schools desire to complete their Section Championship, then those slotted positions in the State Regionals on December 7 and 8 will be byes for their opponents. Those opponents will automatically move forward to the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games.

Mateo Sialoi paces Valley Center Jaguars in 26-7 win over Vista Panthers

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Friday, November 9, 2018-The amazing Valley Center Jaguars again proved themselves last night on their home field behind the outstanding performance of their running back Mateo Sialoi's 241 yards rushing contributed with 3 touchdowns, after a 0-0 first period score, the senior running back scored touchdown runs of 3 and 4 yards in the second quarter along with 1 run of 13 yards as they defeated a very talented Vista Panthers squad by a 26-7 score.

Rod Gilster: "Tonight's game was very explosive on the field for both teams." "On the flea flicker play we had worked on that for 2 weeks in our practices which helped us a lot for our long passing situation when going in the opponents territory before Mateo Sialoi who scored his 2nd touchdown had an outstanding game for our squad."

Vista's only touchdown came in the fourth quarter as David Flores rushed for 57 yards scored on a 2 yard run. Other Vista contributors QB Josh Davies 11 completions out of 21 attempts for 80 yards threw 1 interception and had 13 carries for 53 yards. With the win the Jaguars of Valley Center improve to 8-3 and will host the Marauders of Mira Mesa High School next Friday night at 7:00 pm

In a Division IV quarter final round the Caimans of Classical Academy ended their season at 7-5 as they were defeated by the Komets of Kearny High School by a 62-6 score. The only touchdown came for the Caimans in the 4th quarter as quarterback James Duncan 9 completions out of 14 attempts for 101 yards and threw a 52 yard reception to Thomas Gehman (3 receptions for 64 yards).

The Falcons of Torrey Pines defeated the Knights of San Marcos by a 35-28 score.

The Titans of Eastlake defeated the Pirates of Oceanside 27-7.

Cathedral Catholic Dons defeated the Carlsbad Lancers 35-0.

The Patriots of Orange Glen defeated Marantha Christian 48-7.

The Grizzlies of Mission Hills upsets LaCosta Canyon 14-0.

Army Navy lost to Mountain Empire 28-7

For the first time since 2009 the Vista Panthers finished with a winning record of 7-5 as Head Coach David Bottom after 2 rebuilding years knows what it takes to build the Vista Panthers football program and tonight they ended their season as they fell to the Jaguars of Valley Center High School by a 26-7 score. Mateo Siahui led the Cougars offense with 241 yards and scored 3 touchdowns of 3, 13 and 4 yards. The Panthers touchdown only was scored in the 4th quarter as David Flores scored on a 2 yard run and carried the ball 9 times for 57 yards, qb Josh Davies 13 carries for 53 yards and 11 completions out of 21 attempts for 80 yards.

Division 8 playoff bracket

As a Kaiser alum and fan, I must say I am pleasantly surprised by Kaiser's first round draw. I fully expected Kaiser to draw Temecula Valley or Alta Loma (actually, I thought Lakewood but they didn't get in) but I was stunned they got Sultana, a team they beat handily in week 0 41-6. In the second round, I honestly would rather face JW North because I think San Dimas is underseeded but Kaiser and San Dimas played a thriller last year won by Kaiser 35-34 in OT and I think part II will be just as exciting

Whats happening in the rest of the Division bracket?

I posted on the game between Culver City & Millikan (click on link at bottom), but what of the rest of the playoff bracket?

The Northview Vikings (11-0) of Covina host the Warren Bears (8-3) of Downey. The Bears had their hands full last week facing the Crescenta Valley Falcons (8-3). The Bears were trailing at the half 35-31 but scored three third quarter TDs to take the lead and keep it in a wild 52-47 victory. Senior Bear QB Chris Venegas was the game MVP going 15 of 21 for 268 yards and 4 TDs. They also ran the ball effectively, gaining 226 yards with the help of some Venegas scrambling.

But Warren will be facing the toughest defense they might have seen all season although Paramount might argue the point. The same might be said for Northview in that they have played a few teams rated almost as high as the Bears, but not quite. The Vikings had a much easier time of it against the Santa Ynez Pirates (6-5) winning 43-7.

The Viking defense has still not given up more than 14 points in any one game this year, but the explosive Bears will severely challenge that fact. The Vikings are also very effective offensively. Running 55% of the time, passing 45%. Junior QB James Jimenez has completed two thirds of his passes for 2,529 yards with 36 TDs and just 4 interceptions. The team also ran for 1,657 yards with Jimenez being the leading ball carrier. The Vikings are the top seed in the division and are favored to win by 13 points, but Warren should score more than any other has against Northview this season.

The Notre Dame Titans (9-2) of Riverside will host the San Jacinto Tigers (10-1). Notre Dame's performance against favored Citrus Valley (7-4) was a bit of a surprise. CV was favored by 13 points but lost big to the Titans at a score of 42-14. It is unknown if there were any key players out for CV. Meanwhile San Jacinto's 30-20 victory over La Quinta (5-6) was a little less than what was expected. The Tigers are an almost balanced team with the run & pass, but have run for 1,565 yards while sophomore QB Kajiya Hollowayane was passing for 2,553 yards.

Notre Dame is led by senior QB Rodney Koenig who has passed for 2,658 yards with 33 TDs and only 6 interceptions. The Titans actually favor throwing the ball slightly more than their run game but the run game was still somewhat effective with 1,357 total rushing yards led by senior RB Tyler Mosely's 743 rushing yards with 9 TDs. The Tigers are favored by a mere 6 points and after what Notre Dame did to CV last week, I would be very cautious playing them.

And finally, the Valencia Tigers (10-1) of Placentia will travel to face the Grand Terrace Titans (7-4). The Tigers have been quietly putting together a strong defensive effort as well, having not given up more than 20 points in any one game this season. The Titans, also played some D last week, intercepting three Sunny Hills (8-3) passes to help them win 42-28. But the game was even for three quarters before the Titans put it away with two fourth quarter TDs. The Titans stats on maxpreps.com are of little value in evaluating the team because they are so incomplete.

Valencia beat the Elsinore Tigers (4-7) 42-20. Valencia stayed patient, relying on their defense and run game which accounted for 285 yards on 40 carries with senior Nathan Sandoval rushing for 132 yards on just 14 carries. But they passed well enough to keep Elsinore honest as junior QB Shaun Mchale was 6 of 6 for 117 yards and 1 TD.

And the rest of the Ocean League in the opening round of the playoffs

Click the link below for recap of games involving Culver City, Santa Barbara, and Millikan:

https://californiapreps.forums.riva...oves-on-to-the-division-7-quarterfinals.4563/

The Lawndale Cardinals (9-2) took a while to get untracked against the Dos Pueblos Chargers as they only led 7-0 into the start of the third quarter. Two first half interceptions by the Chargers might have helped keep the score down but the stout Cardinal defense was just too tough. The Cardinals eventually broke it open with their rushing game and went onto a 35-0 victory.

USC commit RB Jordan Wilmore returned to line up for the Cardinals at least in part and provided some rushing punch along with other runners. The Chargers were a fairly one dimensional team, trying to run the ball and it should be interesting to see if the Cardinals can continue to wear opponents down with their defense when playing against much more well balanced teams, like the Antelope Valley Antelopes (9-2). They have almost the exact same yardage rushing and passing the ball. Senior QB Caden Hinton has thrown for 1296 yards and 21 TD's with just 3 interceptions, at least, in the 8 games listed on MaxPreps.com. Lawndale will also have to try to get the win on the road, in the high desert, of Antelope Valley.

The Hawthorne Cougars (6-5) managed to keep it close in the first quarter, being only down 16-13 after 1 quarter, but ultimately they could not keep pace with Rio Hondo Prep (7-3) and lost 52-35 in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division 12 playoffs.

Culver City moves on to the Division 7 quarterfinals

The inexperience at QB for the Santa Barbara Dons did not show up right away but eventually was exposed by the Culver City Centaurs (9-2) in their 55-7 victory over the Dons. The Dons kept it close at first, only trailing 7-0 after a quarter but some late second quarter mistakes by the Dons helped get the Centaurs up 28-0 at the half and the Dons never really got untracked except one big pass play that led to their only TD. Centaur sophomore QB Zevi Echaus was 29 of 38 for 366 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Centaurs next opponents, the Millikan Rams (8-2) looked equally explosive in their 53-6 win over Pacifica of Garden Grove. Millikan junior QB Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell was 14 of 17 for 249 yards and 4 TD's and senior RB Qu'Juan Campbell also had 146 yards rushing on just 12 carries for 3 more TD's and a long run of 70 yards. Millikan won the coin flip and will host the Centaurs on Friday night.

Upland vs. Rancho Cucamonga

The Baseline League Title is on the line Friday with Upland at Rancho Cucamonga...I saw Rancho Cuc on a Thursday night against Norco and would have never guessed they could be competitive against Upland in week 10...But something has changed since they started the season 0-4...Upland has had a nice season but their only signature wins are against La Habra and Redlands East Valley...Those are nice victories, but against schools they should defeat...

Will this be a classic match-up on Friday...or are the Highlanders just better?

2 touchdowns runs by Kavika Tua and 2 interceptions for TD's spark Oceanside in D I CIF win

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Oceanside High School-Oceanside, CA-11-2-18: In a CIF Division I First Round Football Matchup The Otay Ranch Mustangs thought they had things their way as they jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on Garrick Flyer's (3 carries for 32 yards) 7 yard run.

The Pirates of Oceanside went ahead on 2 Kavika Tua (10 carries for 44 yards) touchdown runs of 6 and 4 yards and took a 14-7 lead.

After a safety and the Mustangs scored 2 points to go within 14-9, Trejon Apodaca ran a 30 yard interception return to put the Pirates up 20-15.
