The only two questions, of any significance, left in this league are: will El Segundo or Lawndale win the league championship. No answer to the first question tonight as both should win easily.
And, can Culver City come back from 0-2 to get to third place? Culver will have to win all three remaining games just to get to third and they still have to face Hawthorne, currently 2-0 in league. Step 1 is tonight against a team that they have had many league championship battles with, but Santa Monica has been struggling mightily this year. It looks like Culver should be able to win it easily, but there is an unknown factor. Culver's starting QB went down at the end of the third quarter in the 31-42 loss against El Segundo last week. That is bad news as he has been excelling for Culver. I do not know his status for tonight. The modestly good news for Culver fans is that they are still in better shape at QB than they were last year. Junior back-up Bryce Lewis-Wolfe did well under extremely tough circumstances last week, coming in cold at the end of the third quarter. He completed 7 of 10 passes for 66 yards and a TD, along with a game crushing INT, but the throw was a little forced at a time that it probably had to be forced, trailing, with the clock under 2 minutes. If the starter has not been available this week, then Lewis-Wolfe should be even more prepared than last week and with the way Santa Monica has been playing and the talent of the supporting cast at Culver, it should be enough to get the job done.

Hey Grizz - how did Culver City do? I didn't see their score.

And, wow, what happened to El Segundo (and at home too)? >> Hawthorne 23, El Segundo 14

6 turnovers by El Segundo and they lost their starting QB in the 4th quarter.
Oh, and Culver City won 49-0 over winless Santa Monica. SM has no true QB, as they played three guys in the back field, all wearing 20 something. Culver City went through that pain last year. Culver may have lost their starting QB for the season during the El Segundo game but they are extra fortunate that the back-up is above average when it comes to back-up QB's. He should be thoroughly tested by Hawthorne this coming week.
