Calpreps shut down

Here's what you see on calpreps.com (no connection to this site, californiapreps.com):

SHUTDOWN NOTICE: As many fans of our site know, we are contracted to provide data (national schedules/scores/ratings/projections/league+division alignments) to MaxPreps. Recently, for the eighth time since aquiring MaxPreps in 2007, CBS went back into breach and is willfully refusing for some unknown reason to act in a legal fashion and honor their legal/contractual obligations in terms of paying money owed to calpreps. We are out of funds at this point and have been forced to cease operations.

As you'd expect, we are in the process of suing CBS to recover owed monies plus damages, but that will no doubt not be resolved until many months or years after the conclusion of the 2024 playoffs, so we encourage any section/state associations who were relying on our ratings in order to run your playoffs this season to apply any pressure you may have the pull to apply to the rogue CBS accounting department, to attempt to presuade them to finally start to act in accordance with federal contract law. Thank you and we're sorry it's come to this, but frankly it was destined to never work with a company owned by CBS. We hope to partner with a non-CBS owned company in future seasons, but it's presumably not reasonable to expect that a deal could be struck with another company during the 2024 season, but if you are such a company and have interest, are ears are certainly open.

Here are Notre Dame's thoughts previewing the visit of LB Madden Faraimo (JSerra) this weekend

Notre Dame is hoping Madden Faraimo’s fourth campus visit will be his last as an uncommitted recruit. There shouldn’t be much left for Faraimo to learn about the Irish, but this will be his first visit for a Notre Dame game. Faraimo attended games at USC and Washington earlier this month and has also been considering Texas.

Simple contest. You pick the winner of each high school game with the point spread included. The poster who picks the most games correctly wins the contest.
______________________________________________________________________________

Example: Norco is playing Centennial. Centennial is favored by 17 1/2 points. The line will look this way:

Centennial -17 1/2 Norco

If you choose Centennial. They must win by 18 points for you to win.
If you choose Norco. They must keep the game within 17 points for you to win.

Friday night, Centennial beats Norco 34-21. Centennial wins the game by 13 points therefore those that took Centennial get a loss in our contest; those that took Norco get a win.

The poster with the most wins is our Victor.
______________________________________________________________________________

What do you win? STARS. Since there is no money involved, we play for STARS! The poster with the most correct picks, wins that week's STAR.

The poster with the most STARS at the end of the season becomes our CHAMPION.

Sound easy enough? Then let's play!

Transfers who had to sit out are now becoming eligible

Per Eric Sondheimer, LA Times:

This is the final week in the Southern Section for players who transferred without moving to sit out games. They become eligible on Sept. 30.

The biggest transfer news will revolve around whether quarterback Madden Iamaleava and receiver Jace Brown gain eligibility after transferring from Warren to Long Beach Poly. They are in the process of submitting paperwork and must make an official change of residence to be eligible immediately. They have not played since Warren’s first game of the season.

City Section football players who were sitting out games after transferring without moving become eligible Friday. Among the players becoming eligible is 240-pound quarterback Kevin Hawkins for Birmingham. He previously played for El Camino Real. Terrell Jackson, a sophomore cornerback from Mayfair, becomes eligible at Narbonne. Andrew Batres, who had 83 tackles for Fairfax last season, will be eligible to play defensive back for Dorsey.
