Oaks Christian announced Tuesday night that Jeff Woodruff has resigned as football coach to pursue college opportunities.

Woodruff, a former college assistant, took over the program two years ago. There was reported disagreement within the program of late.

Longtime offensive assistant Casey Clausen recently left to become coach at Calabasas.

Former Coach Bill Redell could be returning as head coach, according to Oaks Christian supporters. Redell has continued to work for the school and has said he was wrong to resign two years ago.

The school has scheduled a meeting with players and parents for Thursday.

There are a lot of elite jobs open, Oaks Christian, St. Bonnie, Santa Margarita, and Long Beach Poly.

I wonder why Casey left, he conceivably could have had this job.

Casey left before Woodruff "resigned".

Oaks was about to lose players and coaches in droves. Clausen's departure was only the start. He also took a major booster with him (his name is actually ON the Oaks football field). Other coaches were set to leave and so were about a dozen of the top tier players.

Oaks had to act fast. Clausen was already gone. Oaks bought out the remainder of Woodruff's contract to make way for the next coach. Woodruff was never well received by the players or the local coaching community; he was just too much of an arrogant person. It seemed as though he felt that coaching at a high school was beneath him. High handedness considering he got his first assistant caching job because he married the head coaches daughter.

Oaks' first choice turned them down so they brought Redell out of retirement.

Clausen wasn't hired as the head coach the first time that Redell departed and he wasn't going to be hired this time. He'll get head coaching experience at Calabasas. Anything that he does at that school will be seen as a huge success because they have been so bad for so long and the school administration cant find their own backside with a roadmap.

In a couple of years Redell will be older and Clausen can most likely return as the head coach at that time...and Bates will get the short end of the stick again.
