Thursday night Division 7 action

We have Citrus Valley(1-0) at Division 5 Colony(2-0). Citrus Valley is rated 9th in Division 7 right now by both calpreps.com and the CIFss latest poll. Colony is ranked 6th in D-5 by both. Citrus Valley projects to having trouble locking down a playoff spot out of the tough Citrus Belt league, but it is early and they are only one league upset away from changing that prognosis.

Newport Harbor(1-0) travels to Chino Hills(0-2) tonight. This should be a tougher game for Newport Harbor than their opening 30-13 win over Sequoia of Redwood City, but if they get the win, they will likely go through their preleague season undefeated. Unfortunately, that still does not project them into locking down a playoff spot out of the tough Sunset League. Newport Harbor is ranked 15th by calpreps.com in D-7. Chino Hills is in D-4 and plays in the tough Baseline League.

Sunny Hills(0-1) of Fullerton, faces D-11 Irvine(0-1) in Buena Park. This should be an easier contest for Sunny Hills than their prior 28-27 loss to D-9 Aliso Niguel(2-0). Dan Albano tweets a 49-21 final victory for Sunny Hills(1-1). D-9 Brea Olinda(1-0) should be a good match for Sunny Hills next week. Sunny Hills currently projects to third place finish in the Freeway League which should guarantee them a playoff spot.
