The following schools have received “At-Large” berths into the CIF State Southern Regional Basketball Tournament from the CIF Southern Section:

Hart
DIVISION 4
Harvard-Westlake
Rancho Mirage
DIVISION 5
Saddleback Valley Christian
Capistrano Valley Christian
CIF State Playoffs: All berths available to the Southern Section were filled based on the following criteria with each area having no specific weight and/or order of preference. In each division, teams selected will be considered in the following order: divisional champion, divisional runner-up, semifinalists and quarter-finalists.
(a) Head to head competition of teams under consideration
(b) Strength against common Southern Section opponents
(c) Southern Section Divisional Placement i.e., Division I recognized as most difficult
(d) Success in Southern Section tournaments
(e) Strength against statewide opponents
(f) Strength of schedule
(g) Overall win/loss record
(h) Strength at end of season
(i) State-wide and/or Southern Section rankings
(j) Computer rankings (Cal-Hi, CalPreps and/or Max Preps)
The selection committee was comprised of the CIF-SS Assistant Commissioner for basketball, members of the CIF-SS Basketball Coaches Advisory Committee, and representatives of SCIBCA.
