I think we all agree that in the IE, Centennial is the best team. Who then is second best? Norco plays at Vista Murrieta this week. Would you consider the winner of this game number two in the area? Certainly Upland would argue against and Cajon can make a convincing case. What about Rancho Verde or Heritage? Can anyone else lay a claim?

If memory serves correct, Citrus Hill has yet to lose a game to a Mountain Pass League opponent in the history of that league. Is this the year that changes? San Jacinto has quietly turned the corner. They have one convincing win over a Southwestern League team (Great Oak) and this week take on another (Murrieta Mesa) before facing a third (Temecula Valley). A lot can happen between now and October 19 when they meet Citrus Hill on the field, but for the first time it's seems there is a legitimate contender for the league title in the Mountain Pass other than Citrus Hill.

It's only two wins over Elsinore and West Valley, but Temecula Valley is undefeated under Coach Esposito. I am not ready to crown them as contenders in the Southwestern, but I am ready to say they will be competitive. It takes a while to turn a program completely around, but Coach Esposito deserves a ton of credit for changing the mindset of the Golden Bear faithful. He has reinvigorated that program and created excitement on campus. Don't be surprised when TV competes for the title in the next two seasons.

Will someone please step up and play Rancho Verde next season. According to sources, they had several openings in the schedule but heard "no" from those schools that would be competitive. Rancho is in the middle of a run of games versus opponents that have no shot at being competitive much less beating a very good Mustang team. Part of the problem is on them; they had an athletic director change in the middle of the school year coupled with the coaching change meant no one was minding the store until Coach Duffy took over. His late start and the chorus of nos left them scrambling to fill out their schedule.

Topic #1; You have the right schools. Cajon vs Heritage week 4 should be a good one. I going with Cajon they seem to have the two best players in the area. Upland vs Cajon is the match up i would like to see. Rancho Verde is in the middle of playing teams that went a combine 0-30 last year. They have a solid win over Santiago but now the only real test of the regular season will be the last game of the year with Heritage. Kudos to Norco for a solid schedule however some of these schools just are not what they used to be considering Rancho Cucamonga has really dropped off and VM has also fallen back. Servite may or may not be coming back and REV was handled by Upland so Norco needs to do the same. 2. Cajon 2A. Upland 4. Norco 5. Rancho Verde and 5A Heritage.

Topic #2; Citrus Hill has won or shared the Mt. Pass League title every year since 2006. That 06 team did not have any seniors and lost to San Jacinto 33-10 but beat Norte Dame (ND beat SJ) to share the title. In 2010, Eric Zomalt's first year at the helm, CH lost to Beaumont 28-6 but shared the league title as Beaumont lost to SJ later on. Since that lost to BHS Citrus Hill is 39-0 in league play. The Mt Pass varied in size the first few years that said Citrus Hill is 60-2 in league play with the first games going back to that 2006 season.

Topic #3; TV is on the right track for sure and the timing is right with both the others schools in Temecula still trying to put it together.

In regards to your Norco comment. Norco returned two starters on offense, replaced four OL starting two sophomores and two juniors. On defense they replaced 9 starters and several freshmen have played significant roles so far. This is a very young Norco team...scrappy and physical. They should be 3-0 letting that Servite game slip away thanks to some home cooking by the refs. This team hopefully will get better as the year progress.... With VM this Friday I will have more of a gauge where they stand ...BROWN&PROUD
