Willauer-Contributing Writer-Dick Haines Stadium-Vista High School-Vista, CA-The Vista Panthers opened the 2016 football season as former football players were honored from the 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's 00's and 10's as they rededicated Dick Haines Stadium before the actual game started. The wife of the late Dick Haines who coached Vista High School 1970 to 1995 was honored at the ceremony by Vista Principal Anthony Barela but the game was a different outcome.
The 1-0 Knights of San Marcos on Tyler Rogers 2 yard run along with qb Bryce Bolin's 5 yard touchdown run and passed 24 completions out of 41 attempts for 357 yards as he threw two touchdown passes 31, 12 yards of Kyle Phillips 8 reception to 123 yards as they defeated the Panthers by a 37-13 and will host Bonita Vista next Friday 9-2
Vavaga Sialoi led the Panthersat 0-1 in rushing as he recorded 10 carries for 79 yards and scored on a 2 yard touchdown run. QB Josh Barnes scored on a 7 yard run and will take on San Pasqual next Friday, September 2 in Escondido.
