By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Chick Embry Field at Wilson Stadium-11-26-21: The Crusaders of Mater Dei High School won their 10th CIF San Diego Section title game as they defeated the Bulldogs of Ramona by a 37-10 score.
Crusader qb Dominick Nankil threw for 180 yards and 2 touchdown passes to teammate Jerry McClune (77 reception yards) for 26 and 51 yards along with a Surhaz Buncom for 48 yards.
Other Mater Dei performers were Nico Mosley rushed for 45 yards with 2 touchdown runs of 3 and 4 yards. Ricky Oziuna kicked a field goal of 21 yards.
John Joyner Mater Dei Coach on his teams effort: "My quarterback has been accurate and has a bunch of great receivers that do things to help him out, defensively we did a great job made big plays that has kept us ahead in the game." "Nico Mosley runs like a bulldog and is a hard little guy but he plays for us and is always ready to play for us." "He runs the ball hard does what he supposed once he reaches the 5 yard line doesn't get tackled."
"Ramona is a talented squad there might not be a better coached team in San Diego in Damon Baldwin they do a tremendous job with the kids that play hard and know what was going to happen for us to be in a dogfight they are talented disciplined and extremely well coached." said Coach Joyner.
Ramona performers Isaac Ramos kicked a 22 yard field goal and qb Devin Sobozak threw for 102 yards connected to teammate Gabriel Lutz for 8 yards.
