Tommy Leach has resigned as football coach at Jurupa Valley. He will be replaced by Cade Sparks, a former quarterback at Summit.

Carson Palmer is returning to high school to be the head football coach at Santa Margarita. He was a volunteer freshman quarterback coach for the Eagles last season when his son played quarterback for the team.

In another big coaching announcement, Malcolm Manuel has resigned after four years as football coach at Narbonne, which won the City Section Open Division championship but was also placed on probation and made ineligible for next season’s playoffs after seven ineligible players were discovered.

Stephen Barbee has resigned after seven years as football coach at Long Beach Poly. That opens one of the top public school coaching positions in the Southland.

Dave Ramos, the football coach at Schurr for 10 years, has resigned.

Garfield has named former quarterback Patrick Vargas as its replacement for Lorenzo Hernandez. Vargas served as the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator, is a teacher on campus and has lots of support. He’s 33 and is getting his dream job after years of training under Hernandez.

Rick Clausen has accepted the position of head football coach at Westlake and brother Casey will be the associate head coach. They were together at Bishop Alemany, where Casey was head coach.

Rick Hayashida is the new football coach at El Camino Real. He has a long history in the City Section, where he was head coach at Chatsworth. He served as the Royals’ girls flag football coach..

Bishop Alemany has chosen former Harvard-Westlake coach Aaron Huerta as its new football coach.

Former Sunny Hills coach Pete Karavedas is the new football coach at Fullerton. Jose Razo is the new football coach at Marshall. He has been the junior varsity coach. Dave Eastham is the new football coach at Trinity.

David Gutierrez has resigned as football coach at Fountain Valley. AJ Garcia has resigned as football coach at Ayala. Travis Brown has resigned as football coach at Sierra Vista. Pete Moye has resigned as football coach at Arroyo. JC Clarke has resigned as football coach at Irvine Northwood and will be replaced by Erik Terry.
