Golden West College upsets Palomar 47-27 in football

In a CCCAA Junior College Conference showdown, the Rustlers of Golden West College at 3-5 behind the 2 touchdown performance of Joe Pyle as he carried the ball 8 times for 68 yards, Tavon Valdes 19 carries for 52 yards and Jonathan Earl's 5 receptions for 37 yards scored on a touchdown run of 28 yards upset the Comets of Palomar College by a 47-27 win and ended a 3 game losing streak.

QB Joe Pyle had 22 completions out of 31 attempts for 341 yards and threw 3 touchdown passes, 1 to Sheldon White (5 receptions for 51 yards) Xavier Smith leading receiver 7 carries for 124 yards, Derrick Deese (3 receptions for 78 yards) 1 long touchdown reception of 51 yards and Ben Ratzleff (2 receptions for 37 yards) 1 touchdown run of 27 yards
For the Palomar Comets at 4-3, Issiah Aguero carried the ball 10 times for 48 yards. Former Oceanside High and Comet Matt Romero who leads all junior college passers in the nation threw 17 completions out of 35 attempts for 180 yards and threw touchdown passes of 32 to Marquis Williams (6 receptions for 53 yards) Nate Johnson scored 1 touchdown for 32 yards (3 receptions for 53 yards) Bryce Walker (3 receptions for 16) scored on a reception for 10 yards.
The Comets of Palomar will host the top ranked Junior College Team in the country in the Fullerton JR College next Sunday in Wilson Stadium at Chick Embry Field in Escondido High School
