L.A. Cathedral will be the site for an 11 on 11 spring football competition without pads and without tackling beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The matchups:
Hawkins vs. Cathedral,
Long Beach Poly vs. Loyola
Corona Centennial vs. Narbonne.

The scrimmage-like competition is expected to attract college coaches.

That scrimmage would have been really fun to watch if it wasn't cancelled. That would have two preseason top 10 ranked teams in state in Narbonne and Centennial with Hawkins is loaded with D1 players, and Long Beach Poly.

Yeah they should have planned this out better or got some input from the CIF. Here's a blurb from the LA Times:

City Section Commissioner John Aguirre confirmed he had conversations with Narbonne and Hawkins. The Southern Section also informed schools that they possibly could be in violation of CIF rules competing as a team before school had ended.

Also complicating the event was that college coaches were not going to be permitted to attend. According to Cathedral Coach Kevin Pearson, multiple college recruiters told him they would not attend because the event had been deemed an "AAU competition."

According to the event organizer, he received clearance from the SS president and got denied in the 11th hour by the football VP
