The Culver City Centaurs (6-0) won their most significant game of the season, beating the El Segundo Eagles (5-1, 0-1), 46-27, in their opener to Ocean League play. It was not because it was a league opener, but the level of opponent they were facing. The Eagles are expected to be the Centaurs' toughest challenge to achieving second place in the Ocean League and a lock on a playoff spot.
Only Hawthorne (5-1, 1-0) stands in their way to achieving that goal now, in my estimation. Highlights can be found off of their Hudl.com page:

And there is a El Segundo focused write up in the Daily Breeze:

The Daily Breeze also has a brief preview of the big matchup this week of Culver City hosting Lawndale (6-0):

This one should be for the Ocean League Championship. If you are looking for fireworks on the football field, this one should provide it. I highly recommend this game. In another admittedly highly biased homer projection, I will predict a 42-38 Centaur victory.
El Segundo will have time to recover before their next tough game as they have the easiest game of the year this week at the Beverly Hills Normans (0-6). Calpreps projects a 62-0 victory. The Eagles could be forgiven if it is something less than that as they might pull their starters as early as possible and be a little less focused than they should be as they await Ocean League favorite, Lawndale, the week after the Normans.
Calpreps.com projects the Santa Monica Vikings (1-5, 0-1) at the Hawthorne Cougars (5-1, 1-0) as the closest Ocean League game this week. Hawthorne was dispensing with Beverly Hills 50-18 last week, while Santa Monica was being shellacked by Lawndale 60-0. Don't let those scores fool ya, this game could be as close as the calpreps predicted 35-27 victory for Hawthorne.
