Lots of changes in the coaching ranks

Daniel Barlage is the new football coach at Norco. He had been an assistant at Riverside City College.

Former L.A. Roosevelt football coach Jose Casagran came out of retirement to become coach at Monrovia.

The Oxnard Unified School District had five openings for football coaches and announced all five Friday.

Hueneme is getting former Sherman Oaks Notre Dame offensive coordinator Jake Goossen-Brown, who won a Southern Section title as coach at Morro Bay and had the leading quarterback in the Mission League last season at Notre Dame.

Oxnard named alumnus Lonnie McCowan as its coach. He was an assistant coach at Ventura College.

Del Sol, a new school set to open, hired Hueneme assistant James Nelson, who played at Buena, Ventura College and Texas El Paso.

Channel Islands hired Rashad Dunn, who coached last season in Georgia.

Camarillo promoted offensive coordinator Nate Anderson, who was a top assistant to retiring Jack Willard.

Mission Vista 2 run rally in home 6th defeats Escondido High School 3-1

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-4-4-24 Mission Vista High School-Oceanside, CA: The Lobos of Mission Hills came back from a 1-1 tie as they scored 2 runs in the home 6th as they defeated the Cougars of Escondido by a 3-1 score.

The Lobos scored their first run in the bottom of the third as Hunter Gemmell led off with a single and scored the first run on Q Mangohig rbi single.

Escondido tied the game at 1-1 as Michael Gonzales led off with a single and scored the tie run on an rbi triple by Jeremy Oakley,

In the home 6th the Lobos of Mission Vista came back as Rowan Cooke led off with a single and scored on a Bodie Wagner rbi singles to take a 2-1 lead. Kain Burnside scored the third run on a wild pitch to make the final score 3-1

Fallbrook defeated by University City of Irvine, CA 16-10

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-4-5-24-Warriors Stadium-Fallbrook High School-Fallbrook, CA: The Trojans of University City High School from Irvine, CA and defeated the Fallbrook Warriors by a 16-10 score.

Koa Saito led the Trojans with 5 goals and 2 assists, teammates Max Dreben and Calvin Walsh contributed with 3 goals each. Finn Gallagher scored 2. Coby Schulman recorded 7 saves for the Trojans.

For the Fallbrook Warriors, Matt Mansell and Ryan Marquart each led with 3 goals and James Jones with 2 goals. Ivan Torres recorded 10 saves.
