That Mater Dei game further illustrates the gap between Nor Cal’s best team and the best from SoCal, a running clock in the state final.

Serra came in 12-0 and averaged 43+ points per game. They had beaten Folsom and De La Salle. So I watched it and thought it would be a competitive game.

But it was quite a mismatch. Serra's best offense came from Mater Dei's penalties. The Monarchs were penalized 16 times for 150 yards.

Final stats: Serra finished with 58 yards of offense in 39 plays. Mater Dei had 386 yards in 43 plays.

Exactly Dave, there is a ton of guys left including a freshman quarterback that could start next year as a sophomore for the next 3 years.
