At 33, former Alemany High and Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen is about to become a head coach for the first time. He has has been chosen to take over the program at Calabasas High. The Coyotes were 0-10 last season.

Clausen has been a key assistant for six years at Oaks Christian. He will bring along his brother, Rick, another former college quarterback who has been an assistant with the Lions.

"I think it's a great opportunity," Clausen said.

Former UCLA receiver Mike Sherrard is expected to take over as offensive coordinator at Oaks Christian.

Thats a nice hire by Calabasas. Casey will get players and will make them relevant in the next few years.

Is calabasas still lumped in with the marmonte experiment or did they get relief?

The last proposal I remember is that Calabasas will be included in one of two subdivisions, both of which include Marmonte League teams and add two new ones to replace St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian: Camarillo and Oak Park.

The old version of the Marmonte league included ten teams. The new version of the Marmonte league will include five teams: Westlake, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Moorpark and Camarillo. The other teams that used to be in the Marmonte league will comprise a league called the Camino league. Teams in the Camino league will be Calabasas, Oak Park, Royal, Simi Valley and Agoura. The new Marmonte will compete in the Northern division and the Camino league will compete in a much lower division. Oaks Christian and St. Bonaventure are out and Oak Park and Camarillo are in.

Oak Park will struggle because they were a senior dominated team this past season. Neither Agoura, Oak Park or Calabasas have freshman teams, so Royal and Simi valley will have to find other schools so as to play their freshman games during the weeks that they play the other three schools.

Of course, all of this goes right out he window if St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian win their lawsuit.
