The Lawndale Cardinals (9-2) took a while to get untracked against the Dos Pueblos Chargers as they only led 7-0 into the start of the third quarter. Two first half interceptions by the Chargers might have helped keep the score down but the stout Cardinal defense was just too tough. The Cardinals eventually broke it open with their rushing game and went onto a 35-0 victory.

USC commit RB Jordan Wilmore returned to line up for the Cardinals at least in part and provided some rushing punch along with other runners. The Chargers were a fairly one dimensional team, trying to run the ball and it should be interesting to see if the Cardinals can continue to wear opponents down with their defense when playing against much more well balanced teams, like the Antelope Valley Antelopes (9-2). They have almost the exact same yardage rushing and passing the ball. Senior QB Caden Hinton has thrown for 1296 yards and 21 TD's with just 3 interceptions, at least, in the 8 games listed on MaxPreps.com. Lawndale will also have to try to get the win on the road, in the high desert, of Antelope Valley.

The Hawthorne Cougars (6-5) managed to keep it close in the first quarter, being only down 16-13 after 1 quarter, but ultimately they could not keep pace with Rio Hondo Prep (7-3) and lost 52-35 in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division 12 playoffs.
