Excerpts from the Orange County Register:

A "lawsuit was filed by standout senior football players Nicholas Gardinera of Scripps Ranch High and Cameron Woolsey of Mission Hills...on Thursday, Jan. 28 against Gov. Gavin Newsom, the state health department and the county of San Diego seeking a temporary restraining order to allow high school competition amid the pandemic .

"The lawsuit, filed in San Diego Superior Court, alleges under the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment that high school students have not been treated fairly because collegiate and professional athletes in the state have been allowed to compete during the same time period, said San Diego-based attorney Stephen Grebing."
