Willauer-Contributing Writer-Carlsbad High School-Carlsbad, CA: In a hard fought football game the Lancers did all that they could but couldn't stop the running of Darrell Broussard as he carried the ball 20 times for 100 yards and scored 1 touchdown reception of 80 yards from qb Rodney Thompson 14 completions out of 26 attempts for 281 yards along with a total of 3 touchdown passes 2 of 96 yards to Junior Justice( 5 receptions for 116 yards) and to 13 yards to Tariq Thompson (1 reception for 18 yards). Isaac Taylor contributed on a 67 yard touchdown as they defeated the Lancers of Carlsbad by a 28-7 score
St. Augustine's Football Coach Richard Sanchez on the game: "We played bad on offensive side of the ball but our defense came through and stepped up with the key plays along with making hard key tackles and continued to blitz but we turned the ball over too many times and showed the inability to protect the running backs on their blocks early and late in the game when we got the win we can't be too upset. For Rodney Thompson those 3 passes for touchdowns are God given plays they are not a part of this game we aren't blocking well on offense on offense and didn't see Rodney Broussard perform well today as he gave up 3 fumbles, he can't run the ball in order for our offensive line to block on the plays."
