Rancho Buena Vista records first home win in 33-0 win over rival Vista in Lions Club Trophy

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Rancho Buena Vista High School-Vista, CA-In a town called Vista, CA known for the movie Friday Night Lights where 2 tradition schools between the Panthers of Vista and the Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista play for the Lions Club Trophy.

In tonight's game there was no scoring in the first half as Vista had 30 yards on 6 five yard offside penalties, 8 for 55 and for RBV 7 five yard offside penalties, 9 for 60 yards

The second half started after Vista punted and the ball was downed at the Panthers 41 yard line, qb Connor Underhill, known for his speed ran for 77 yards as he scored on a 41 yard touchdown with the PAT good as they led 7-0. After another Vista possession of the ball,the Longhorns intercepted tailback and speedy Gino Trapasso carried the ball for 179 yards and scored touchdowns runs of 10, 82 on a left sweep play and 14 yards to make the final score 33-0 in favor of Rancho Buena Vista.

"Trapasso and Underhill are a great combination, while I was hired, I designed a new offense in the spring, the kids had trouble learning the play but went over it until we started know it more." "Underhill is a new transfer us from Rancho Bernardo and Gino Trapasso is a talented junior running back and skilled like you wouldn't believe."

Vista leads the series 21-12. This is Rancho Buena Vista's first win at home. Last RBV win was in 2017 as they won over Vista 27-17. Last RBV shutout over Vista was in 2012 as they won 36-0. Other RBV shutouts were 11-0 in 2007 and in 1992 14-0
