Willauer-Contributing Writer-5-23-24-For the first time since their last appearance in 2019 when they lost to Morse High School 5-4, the Matadors won their first D5 CIF San Diego Section title as Jeremiah Castillo's 2 run homer cleared the right field fence as they defeated the Komets of Kearny High by a 5-3 victory.
Ty Kelly won the Sportsmanship Award for Mount Miguel. Matt Barton was the winning pitcher for the 15-16 Matadors as he pitched 7 innings gave up 4 hits 3 runs 1 earned 7 strikeouts.
