The Culver City Centaurs(1-0) will be hosting the Palos Verdes Peninsula Panthers(1-1). The Panthers rate as just slightly better than the Centaurs first week opponent West Torrance(0-1). I will be surprised though if Peninsula can handle the speed of the Centaurs and combined with the Centaur effort on defense last week, the game could be close to the same result as the 62-20 bludgeoning that Culver gave West last week. Having said that, the Panthers do possess some size and their QB is an adept scrambler. The Centaurs will need to contain the Panthers' run game and sieze the moment when Peninsula attempts to pass.

Lawndale(1-0) had an impressive 25-22 victory over highly regarded D-3 Sierra Canyon(0-2) in week 1. The Lawndale D is very impressive. They are taking on another huge challenge by traveling to face D-2 Calabasas(0-1) this Friday. By calpreps ratings, this is a huge step up in competition level. We will see how Lawndale handles it. They will likely need another big game out of USC bound RB Jordan Wilmore.

El Segundo(1-0) will travel to face North Torrance(1-1). While North currently rates out as a better opponent than last week's Peninsula(1-1), North looks less consistent at QB. Other facets of their game must present a challenge to their opponents.

Hawthorne(1-0) should have no problem handling South Torrance(0-1).

The Santa Monica Vikings(0-1) lost a close contest to the Compton Tarbabes last week. West Torrance does not rate quite as high as Compton, so I am interested to see how this plays out, especially after West lost 62-20 to the Centaurs last Friday.

Beverly Hills broke their 21 game losing streak last week with a resounding 32-0 victory over lowly Sotomayer of LA City D-3. This week will be much tougher as they host Malibu(2-0). It is great scheduling that has allowed Malibu to get to 2-0. A Beverly Hills win would be a huge step in the right direction
