Hoover Lady Cardinals Win in win over previously Vincent Memorial

By David A.Willauer-Contributing Writer-Carlsbad High School-Carlsbad, CA: For the first time in Hoover High School History, the Lady Cardinals came back from a 23-6 first quarter deficit as they came back on 2 key free throws by Jurnee Harnage as she contributed with 12 total points as shesank 2 key free throws near the end game and as time ran out stole the inbounds pass to seal the victory and defeated the previously undefeated Scots from Vincent Memorial by a 63-61 score.

Hoover Head Girls Basketball Coach Kerry Miller on the teams performance: "Our girls felt nervous for our first time in our school history and prepared ourselves before the contest." "Once we settled down I give our squad a lot of credit as they started to play their game, they fought back after trailing by 17 points which was big for us." "Namaya Suwanni only a junior has been a special player for us and stepped up in big games." "Jurnie Harnage has been a senior leader has contributed on offense with key rebounds and looking for her teammates everyday in practice and at games." We have drills that the ladies do in practice in order to improve their free throws they have to sink 6 free throw in the last 2 minutes along with making 2 shots in 2 minutes."

NaMaya Suwanni on her 20 point performance: "I wanted to make history for my school which was great for us I give credit my teammates and coaching staff for all the hard work they put into our program I didn't want that to go to waste so I zoned in and played my game."

Vincent Memorial suffers their first loss at 25-1 as they were led by Alex Smith with 30 points and 11 by teammate Bella Gayles

This is Hoover High School's First Girls Basketball Title in School History
