Willauer-Contributing Writer-8-31-19-Chick Embry Field-Escondido High School-Escondido, CA-In a football rivalry in the town of Escondido where it is always competitive as the defending CIF Section Champion Orange Glen Patriots battled the Escondido Cougars at Chick Embry Field on Friday Night Lights football night as the improved Cougars 1-1 surprised the defending CIF Section Champion Patriots 1-1 by a 49-29

Escondido jumped out to a 14-0 lead on 2 Rob Ramos passes of 29 yards to Dom Febela and 13 yards to Cayden Kelly with the PAT's good.

The defending CIF Section Champs cut the Escondido lead to 14-7 as Cael Patterson, son of head football coach Jason Patterson, rushed for 120 yards scored the first touchdown game on a 29 yard with the PAT good.

Rob Ramos known for his passing ability threw 3 touchdown passes in a row of 55, 61 and 54 yards to Tajae Brooks put Escondido up 35-8.

Head Coach Jud Bordman of Escondido High School: "Our guys were ready and challenged for a great city rivalry game from a great Orange Glen team, the defending CIF Champions,as we didn't take them lightly but this was an important game on our part, our defense did well tonight against Orange Glen better than last week's performance against Hilltop."

"QB Rob Ramos did a well on his passes, throughout the game he settled down and believed in himself in the athlete that he is and did a great job." said Coach Bordman.

Head Coach Jason Patterson of Orange Glen: "We didn't execute well tonight like we did last week vs. Waimea we moved the ball but couldn't finish, qb Ethan Villalobos look for the good plays as in the almost completed passes that we had but we dropped the ball but our squad will grow from it and move on, in the second half I felt that we executed off the ball thought it was going to be a high scoring shootout I thought that we were going to come out on top."

Week 1 Point Spreads

Teams that did not get started last week are in play this week...Here are 35 of them for us to engage with.
______________________________________________________________________________

Simple contest. You pick the winner of each high school game with the point spread included. The poster who picks the most games correctly wins the contest.
______________________________________________________________________________

Example: Norco is playing Centennial. Centennial is favored by 17 1/2 points. The line will look this way:

Centennial -17 1/2 Norco

If you choose Centennial. They must win by 18 points for you to win.
If you choose Norco. They must keep the game within 17 points for you to win.

Friday night, Centennial beats Norco 34-21. Centennial wins the game by 13 points therefore those that took Centennial get a loss in our contest; those that took Norco get a win.

The poster with the most wins is our Victor.
______________________________________________________________________________

What do you win? STARS. Since there is no money involved, we play for STARS! The poster with the most correct picks, wins that week's STAR (Not an easy thing to do).

The poster with the most STARS at the end of the season becomes our CHAMPION.

Week 0 Point Spread Results...doc and Dick by 5

Week 0 saw doctrk and OfficerDick dominate the field winning by a full 5 games...So the first STAR of the season is a binary STAR!

There is one game being played today (Ayala -10 Chino Hills) but since both doctrk and OfficerDick picked Chino Hills, that game has no bearing on determining our winner and will be discounted.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Week 0
saw the favorites go 26-7 straight up.

When the point spreads were included 7 games flipped to the dogs and 1 game turned into a tie. That means the Favorites grabbed the early lead on the Dogs, going 18-14-1.
