What a weird turn of events this weekend. I don't recall this ever happening in all my years of following high school football. Read the story attached, here's part of it.

"Well that was an eventful 48 hours for Desert Valley League football fans.First, straight out of a Hollywood movie, Xavier Prep and Palm Desert go to overtime on the final game of the season Friday with the winner making the playoffs and the loser going home."

DVL Football

The Xavier Prep victory over Palm Desert and the Cathedral City loss to Palm Springs created a three-way tie for the league's final automatic playoff berth. But due to a provision in the DVL constitution, the Saints couldn't get into the postseason because they won the game in overtime, not regulation. It's that simple.

1. (1) Mission Viejo (4-0 8-2) MV secured the SCL title with a 24-17 home victory over El Toro. MV also secured itself a top 4 seeding. MV coaches were at the RC - Upland game, taking in Upland. Next: playoffs.

2. (2) Upland (4-0 7-2) Upland beat Rancho Cucamonga 28-10 to gain at least a share of the BL title. Uplands offensive front took over the second half vs Rancho, as they just pounded the ball for most of the second half. Barring a let down Upland is a top seed. Next: Etiwanda (2-2 4-4-1) Trap game?

3. (3) Tesoro (2-1 7-2) Tesoro had a bye. Next San Juan Hills (1-2 4-5) With a win Tesoro could capture one of the top 4 seeds.

4. (4) Chino Hills (3-1 7-2) CH had all it oculd handle vs a desparte Etiwanda team fighting for its life. The Huskies managed to pull out a thrilling 38-35 over the Eagles to wrap up second place in the BL. Next: Los Osos (0-4 2-7)

5. (5) Hart (4-0 7-2) Hart rolled another inferior FH league opponent, this time it was Saugus, 43-12. This week its for the league title. Next: Valencia (4-0 7-2)

6. (6) Vista Murrieta (4-0 7-2) VM handled league rival Chaparral 35-22 to essentially win the SWL title once again. A win this week over a vastly improved Temecula Valley (2-2 6-3) likely gets VM 5 0r 6 seed.

7. (7) Los Al (4-0 8-1) LA beat up on HB 49-13 to force a showdown for the Sunset League title vs Edison. How good are the Griffins? They have played 2 close games all year, with being a loss to Narbonne. No league games have been close. Is the sunset the new CBL ? Next: Edison (4-0 7-2)

8. (8) Valencia (4-0 7-2) Valencia, like Hart, rolled another FH opponent. Valencia blew out Canyon Country 45-21 to face Hart for the FH title. Next: Hart (4-0 7-2)

9. (10) Edison (4-0 7-2) Edison won yet another Bell Game by defeating Fountain Valley 33-15, to keep its league title hopes alive with this weeks showdown vs #7 Los Al. Like Los Al, Edison has yet to play a close game in league. The HB contest was the closet game Edison has played in league. If league scores are any indication, Edison looks to be a slight underdog. Next: Thursday Los Al (4-0 8-1)

10. (9) El Toro (1-2 6-3) ET lost to MV 24-17. Looks like ET is the w/c team provided it gets a win this week. Should be no problem as the Chargers are expected to blow out Dana Hills (0-3 1-8)

Toribio passes 2,000-yard mark



Senior tailback Chris Toribio passed the 2,000-yard rushing milestone midway through the third quarter and ended the regular season with a staggering 2,156. He also has 39 total touchdowns - 36 rushing, one receiving and two kickoff returns for scores.

The last time La Quinta had a tailback put up those kind of regular season numbers was Frederick Collins in 2001, ironically the last time La Quinta won a CIF title.

Prolific Prep Academy won the 2014 JumpBall Classic with
a 4-0 record and a championship game win against the host
team, Future Prep Academy out of Carson, CA.

Prolific Prep Academy led approximately 165 of the 180 total
minutes it played in the tournament, and won the championship
game with a defensive stop by Josh Jackson to win 79-78.

Josh Jackson was named outstanding player of the tourney
while leading the entire 12 team tourney field with a 28.5 PPG
average.

Prolific Prep Academy had 3 players on the all-tournament team
which includes 2016 wing Josh Jackson who was the most
outstanding player, 2016 Forward Algevon Eichelberger who
tallied 16.3 PPG, and 2015 PG Kyle Leufroy who was 2nd overall
in the entire tournament with a 7.5 APG average.

Prolific Prep beat 5th year Post Graduate teams; Middlebrooks Academy,
Cooper International Academy, and Future College Prep. They also beat
Cathedral High, which is a pre-season top 5 California State Open Division
Team. Prolific Prep had a 35+ point lead with 15 minutes to go in the game.
All this without 6-9" high major 2017 prospect 
Mamoudou Diarra, who stayed
home with a knee injury.

Prolific Prep Academy opens up it's Home Schedule at Napa Valley
College with 3 games on: Friday November 14th @ 7pm against
Reno International Prep, Saturday November 15th @ 8pm against
Hillcrest Academy, and Sunday November 16th @ 2pm against Elite
Prep Education Academy. It will be showcase games all day
 in Napa for
that weekend.
