California All Star Classic-August 30 at Las Positas College

The first annual Prep2Prep California All Star Classic will take place Sunday August 30 at Las Positas College in Livermore. This two-game event will feature a North vs South format with elite players in the class of 2016 at 3:30 pm and top players in the class of 2017 at 1:30 pm. Full rosters for all four squads will be announced on August 1. Coaching for the North in the event will be Bishop O'Dowd's Lou Richie and San Ramon Valley's Brian Botteen. The Rivals 100 rankings for the class of 2017 were released today. California has 12 players in the rankings headlined by 7th ranked 5 star Alabama commit, running back Najee Harris of Antioch. The highest ranked player from Southern California is defensive back Darnay Holmes at #11.

Adidas 7 on 7 has an impressive line up

The Adidas 7 on 7 passing tournament set for Sunday, June 21 at StubHub Center in Carson has a strong field of 16 teams.

Set to play from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. are Long Beach Poly, Downey, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Dorsey, Narbonne, JSerra, Los Alamitos, Santa Fe, Loyola, Westlake, Warren, Santa Margarita, Muir, Cathedral, Chaminade and North Torrance.

Poly Coach Antonio Pierce is coordinating the event.

Alemany beats Norco for Bonita championship

Alemany continued its success in summer seven on seven passing tournaments by winning the Bonita tournament on Saturday, defeating Norco in the championship game.

Offensively, quarterback Brevin White, receivers Jarrin Pierce and Cayden Dunn and sophomore running back Jordan Anderson made major contributions. On defense, Brian Barry, Guy Alford and Lamin Touray were the standouts.

Alemany Coach Dean Herrington said he was impressed with Norco, which features Michigan-bound quarterback Victor Viramontes.

"Norco is going to be good," Herrington said. "They're big and physical."

Hoops Factory @ USA Basketball U16 Training Camp

Before they departed for the 2015 FIBA Americas in Argentina, Hoops Factory TV was privileged enough to speak with a number of the attendee's to the U16 Training Camp in Colorado Springs including USA Coach Don Showalter, Bishop O'Dowd Coach Lou Ritchie, Sacramento's Jordan Brown & Corona's Jalen Hill.

So Cal End Of Summer Showcase- August 8 at Cerritos College

Southern California End of Summer Showcase


The 11th annual Southern California End of Summer Showcase will be held Saturday August 8th, 2015 at Cerritos College in Norwalk from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. It will be open to individual players (in all high school grades) and teams from high school and AAU programs


Cost is $235 per team or $80 for individuals. Every team/individual will play two games.

Alemany wins El Rancho passing tournament

Brevin White is helping to make Alemany a team to watch in summer passing tournaments.

He led the Warriors to the seven on seven championshp of the El Rancho tournament on Saturday. The Warriors defeated Mission Viejo in the final. Receiver Jarrin Pierce was impressive catching passes, Coach Dean Herrington said.

Cornerback Brian Barry also had a big day for Alemany, which defeated Oaks Christian in the semifinals. Mission Viejo defeated Hart in its semifinal.

The Big One-NCAA certified event July 15-19 in Irvine

The first annual The Big One will be held Wednesday to Sunday July 15-19 at the new Misty May Treanor Sports Center in Irivne. This will be an NCAA certified event allowing Division I coaches to attend. Entry fee is a very low $495. Narbonne takes Buena Park passing tourney

There's no doubt that defending City Section Division I football champion Narbonne is loaded with top skill-position players, and the Gauchos showed off plenty on Saturday in winning the Buena Park passing tournament championship.

Narbonne defeated Cathedral in the championship game, knocked off Gardena Serra in the semifinals and defeated Dorsey in the quarterfinals.

Narbonne was alternating quarterbacks Roman Ale and Jaylen Chatman, a sophomore. Devaughn Cooper was tough to stop at receiver, along with Tre Walker.

The Gauchos' linebacking corp was outstanding, according to Coach Manuel Douglas. Sophomores Raymond Scott and Darien Butler led the way.

Cathedral quarterback Andrew Tovar was effective passing the ball to Renard Bell and Kaylen Williams.

Rivals 100 2016 Rankings

California is well represented in the updated Rivals 100 rankings of the upcoming 2016 seniors in the country. The state has 18 members headlined by #8 Mique Juarez, a linebacker from North High School in Torrance. Former Westlake star quarterback Malik Henry is ranked fifteenth, the Florida State commit transferred to IMG Academy of Florida a few months ago.

The St. Thomas-St. John IAA (Virgin Islands) is preparing to host the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational basketball tournament slated January 15, 16, 17 & 18, 2016.
