Jackson Oksnee sparks Mission Hills Grizzlies to a 27-0 win over Oceanside Pirates in key game

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Jack Ashby Field-Mission Hills High School-San Marcos, CA-10-4-19

The Mission Hills Grizzlies known for their football tradition along with producing good players who are currently playing in college and the only Grizzly in the NFL with Fred Warner known for his defensive skills for the San Francisco, currently ride a 2 game winning streak behind 2 field goals of 52 and 30 yards along with QB Jackson Oksnee's 2 touchdown passes of 77 to Cameron Woolsey (receptions 4 receptions for 95 yards, rushing 15 carries for 44 yards) and 22 yards to Skai Donnell, 2 and a touchdown run of 1 yard as they defeated the Oceanside Pirates by a 28-0 score.

Chris Hauser: "Our defense commucated well when we keyed in on Oceanside's running back Kavika Tua as he is one of the outstanding backs in San Diego County." "Tonight's game was in our favor after being on the road for 2 weeks it felt good coming back at our home field, as this is our sixth game this season and our second home game which is a treat with our crowd and community support, I'm proud of our squad as we played well tonight." "Cameron Woolsley, my tailback, is a kid that we use multiple ways in different offensive positions which is uncommon for us but to give him the ball for the passing game and tonight we decided to give him some touches as he scored those 2 long key touchdowns which paid off." "QB Jackson Oksnee was under a lot of pressure in tonight's game which is big for us but he managed the game and made key throws that we needed."

For the Pirates of Oceanside Kavika Tua led with 69 yards on 13 carries, qb Jakob Harris 7 completions out of 20 attempts for 111 yards and 1 interception.

Davd Rodriguez Oceanside Football Coach: "Every loss is difficult for us as it lands on my shoulders tonight wasn't our night but we have to move on get them ready in practice as we have another heavy hitter at Carlsbad." "Kavika Tua my running has battled hard in practice and on the gridiron he always gives our squad 100% but we didn't do that tonight."

Mission Hills will host Torrey Pines next Friday while Oceanside will travel to face the Red Hot Lancers of Carlsbad.

Week 6 Point Spreads

League play begins this week...Plus all those players that had to sit out are now eligible...Could make for some surprising outcomes!
______________________________________________________________________________

Simple contest. You pick the winner of each high school game with the point spread included. The poster who picks the most games correctly wins the contest.
______________________________________________________________________________

Example: Norco is playing Centennial. Centennial is favored by 17 1/2 points. The line will look this way:

Centennial -17 1/2 Norco

If you choose Centennial. They must win by 18 points for you to win.
If you choose Norco. They must keep the game within 17 points for you to win.

Friday night, Centennial beats Norco 34-21. Centennial wins the game by 13 points therefore those that took Centennial get a loss in our contest; those that took Norco get a win.

The poster with the most wins is our Victor.
______________________________________________________________________________

What do you win? STARS. Since there is no money involved, we play for STARS! The poster with the most correct picks, wins that week's STAR (Not an easy thing to do).

Rancho Verde at Norco

What are your thoughts on this game?

Norco has simply been dominant through four weeks of the season...They average 54 points a game and have been pretty consistent in getting there...Their low is 49 points vs. Vista Murrieta and their high is 59 vs. Rancho Cucamonga...They seem like a veteran team that is on a mission...Do they match-up with Rancho Verde?

Rancho Verde has put up some big numbers too...but they have done it vs. a much softer schedule...The Mustangs one tough assignment did not go so well...Losing 30-7 vs. Upland...Rancho Verde has skill, but they are quite young...and improving...Is this their moment to rise to the level of past Mustang teams?

Murrieta Valley - Oaks Christian

Oaks Christian went up 38-18 with 7:29 left in the game, then gave up 3 TDs in less than 7 minutes to lose in historic fashion.

In four varsity starts Sophomore QB Brandon Rose has proven to be the best passer in the SWL, but won this game on a 32 yard TD run off a busted play.

I think eyes are going to start shifting to the IE as MV heads to its usual season finale showdown against Vista Murrieta.

Need Opinions on QBs

My local newspaper says these QBs split time at the position. True or not? Maybe I’m just assuming splitting time means it was like a rotational QB thing. Here’s the stats...would you consider these kids to have “split time” at QB or is it a slight error by the writer.

Which Game Is The Easiest to Predict?

Temecula Valley at San Jacinto...Two teams seemingly on the rise who hope to challenge for their respective league titles...Who will put their best foot forward in this one?

Los Osos at Kaiser...Both quality squads who are off to good starts...Who keeps it rolling?...Who takes one on the chin?

Oaks Christian at Murrieta Valley...Oaks has stumbled a little out the gate...Is this the week they straighten things out...or will the long drive and quality opponent send them reeling?

Orange Lutheran at Vista Murrieta...How well do these two match-up?...For whom is this a bigger game?

Canyon Springs at La Sierra...Two low rated teams fighting for victory...If Canyon Springs can get it they would break a 19 game losing streak... A win for La Sierra and they will be a .500 team...Is this an easy game to predict?

Trevor Jungmans 2 TD runs 48 yards and 15 yards 1 td pass paces San Pasqual in win

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Dick Disney Stadium-Orange Glen High School-Escondido, CA-9-20-19: In a Escondido high school football rival game that are on the Bear Valley Parkway which is loaded with a lot of fans, traditions along with Battle for the Bear Award was given to the winner of the San Pasqual Golden Eagles vs. Orange Glen contest but tonight the trophy goes to the San Pasqual Golden Eagles as they defeated the Orange Glen Patriots by a very close 28-22 score to claim the Bear Award for 2019.

In 1962 Orange Glen High School opened and in 1972 San Pasqual opened started playing a football rivalry. Both schools are 4 miles on the Bear Valley Parkway. In 1985 both administrators had a meeting and decided to give out the Battle for the Bear Award to the winner of the San Pasqual-Orange Glen football game and what a game it was.

In the first peroid, the Patriots scored as qb Ethan Villalobos ran on a 4 yarder with the PAT no good to take a 6-0 lead.

In the second period Golden Eagles took their first lead at 14-6 as qb Trevor Jungman (17 carries for 133 yards) scored on a 48 yard run and threw a (1 completion out of 3 attempts for 39 yards)39 yard pass to Kody Ketcham with the PAT's good.

The Patriots tied the game as Cael Patterson (33 carries for 152 yards), son of the football coach Jason Patterson known for his running ability scored on a 1 yard run and followed with a 2 point PAT to tie the game at 14-14.

QB Trevor Jungman scored his 3rd touchdown of the game on a 15 yarder to put San Pasqual up 21-14.

The Patriots came back as qb Ethan Villalobos (7 completions out of 18 attempts for 137 yards) threw a 56 yard strike to wide receiver DJ Harris (3 receptions for 81 yards). Cael Patterson followed with a 2 point conversion put Orange Glen up 22-21.

With 2:08 left in the ballgame running back Mark Santer (19 carries for 161 yards) scored on a 39 yard touchdown with the PAT good to make the final score San Pasqual 28-22 and have won the Battle for the Bear Award 13 times in a row. Orange Glen last claimed the trophy in 2003 when they won by a 26-20 score.

Tony Corley San Pasqual Golden Eagles Head Football Coach: "This was a good game for us Orange Glen has improved ever year and were fortunate to come out on top in this classic." "Trevor Jungman has done a good job for our squad and has dug us out of some big holes with his running and passing skills throughout every game."

"After we trailed 22-21 I said this is another classic game but Mark Santer my running back scored the winning touchdown on a triple option play he did well and broke a few tackles for us as he scored for us and that is how we won." said coach Corley.

Jason Patterson Orange Glen Patriots Football Coach: "When we led 22-21 and held San Pasqual down our defense played a lot better this week we needed the opportunities made the key tackles and did our assignments but it was a good game on both sides."

"My qb (Ethan Villalobos) made a good throw to wide receiver DJ Harris who made an outstanding catch as we held to a 1 point game most of the way." "San Pasqual always has a good running game Trevor (Jumgman) is a good athlete has done a nice job with his running and passing." said Coach Patterson.

The Golden Eagles of San Pasqual lead this overall series over the Patriots of Orange Glen 30-14-1.
