Rancho Cucamonga, Chino Hills, Los Osos and Etiwanda Coaches Show Their Tru

This is what happens when the coaches are the controlling votes. There needs to be a better system in deciding who gets the nod for all league. Coaches should be able to nominate their players but an independent panel should decide who gets First Team,Second and Honorable mention. Years back I was part of a commitee that did this for a particular District and it worked real well. On the panel where City Councilman,Mayors,Police Chiefs,Youth league Presidents and regular people with business in the Community. They also got youth coaches who had been around for a longtime. The panel all got passes for the games so that they could evaluate talent and where given a sheet to rate each player every game. Then at the end of the year coaches where allowed to nominate players for consideration. The panel got together and voted using the data they had and opinions of the panel members and it was decided. There was a big banquet and the athletes where given a patch and certificate for the award. It went on for several years until the main guy got real sick. It worked real well, but something has to change with the current formula because every year it always seems to be an issue and the ones who get hurt are the athletes.

there appears to be many half-truths to this story.

undoubtedly a bad situation

No half truths from Upland.

Nominations were turned in a few days before the meeting.

Youth football coaches voting would be no better than the Varsity coaches.
They would vote for all their former players.

nominations were turned in nobody to represent them.
look, it's a bad situation where ALL the adults at fault.
I see salters beef, but to just walk out on the meeting because his guy wasn't chosen to league mvp is doesn't look good.
also saw in todays paper he refused comment, too focused on this weeks game, so he deferred all comments to his AD.
only other quotes came from your boy bechtel.
also it was stated that parades voted for his guy at RB, not an upland player...whatever that's worth

good luck tonight vs Hart

Actually that is not true if you pick youth coaches that have been around awhile and are mature enough to vote for not only there kids but the best kids. It is no different than the varsity coaches voting for their own. Something has to be done to fix the system because it is the athletes who get hurt by the egos of the coaches.
