Jael Martin, Tony Duckett and Jordan Garner pace 11-2 Lancers of Carlsbad in a 86-75 win over Bishop O Dowd

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Carlsbad High School-Carlsbad, CA: In a well battled first period after as the Lancers led 11-3 early in the game, the Dragons of Bishop O Dowd from Oakland, CA lit up the gym with a lot of 3 pointers tied the game at 11-11 in the second period, the Lancers led 42-36 at the half and won by an 86-75 score in the first round of the National Division Round of the 2023 Holiday Basketball Classic that was held all over the San Diego area.

Clark Allard on the performance of the Lancers of Carlsbad: " Nice to have this game at home as our guys are used to the rims in our gym and made more shots like we normally as we have been we got out in transition a little bit and pushed the tempo up, we got back to our style that we've been playing all season." "Bishop O Dowd is one of the best coached teams in the state and one of the best tradition basketball teams for a very long time." "For them to be competing in this bracket and the way they play is a privilege but it's nice for us to come out with a win."

Jael Martin led the Lancers with 21 points, Tony Duckett contributed with 17 followed by Jordan Garner with 14, and 12 by Jake Hall.

With the win the Lancers improve to 11-2 and will take on St. Mary's of Arizona in a National Division Quarter Final Round that will take place at Torrey Pines High School on Thursday, December 28. Tap Off is 7 PM
